We'll be at Universal during Orlando's Magical Dinning Month. Both these restaurants are participating. I've looked at both prix fixe menus. I think I would enjoy both.

Any views from folks who've been to both? Atmosphere? Service? Special feeling?

I prefer Tchoup Chop, especially the magical menu this year. They're both great, I just tend to like the menus at TC more.

The Magical Dining menu looks better at Tchoup Chop. I do prefer the regular menu though........

Out of those 2 I would choose Tchoup Chop. I like the whole feel of it better than Emerils.......not many choices in Emerils regular menu for me either..........

Both are decent.

Ate at both, back to back night, a couple of weeks ago.
I greatly preferred Emeril's, but you won't really go wrong. Partially depends on what you like. Tchoup House is Asian fusion, with a heavy emphasis on sushi. Despite being July 4th weekend, the restaurant was half empty. The restaurant feels like any other fairly nice Asian fusion restaurant. Service is good, but nothing exceptional. If I remember right, I had the dumplings and egg rolls as appetizers, and they were really nothing special. The sushi roll I had was very original and delicious though. and "sweet dumplings" were a very good dessert.

On the other hand, Emeril's was closer to fine dining. Exceptional service, real white linen service. The only thing that really set it apart from true fine dining is the theme park atmosphere. The restaurant is sleek, modern and elegant. But myself and most of the patrons were dressed in theme park attire as opposed to jacket and tie. But the food and service quality do come closer to fine dining. Menu is more of Emeril's signature style. "New" New Orleans style..
I had BBQ as an appetizer--- very good. Crispy duck wings appetizer, absolutely totally sensation. Sweet bbq roasted salmon for a main course.... one of the best salmon dishes I've had anywhere. My son had the kid's filet mignon. I had a bite, and it was really a perfectly cooked filet that totally melted in my mouth. I don't believe I had dessert at Emeril's, but I had a great cocktail, The "new" G&T.

So for me, Emeril's was a really fantastic memorable meal, of dishes I'm not getting elsewhere. Taking service to the next level.
Tchoup House is very good Asian fusion, but not leagues better than my neighborhood Asian fusion places.

we love them both. But Tchoup Choup is one of the most beautiful places we have dined at.

Have only eaten at Tchoup Chop. Loved the atmosphere and my meal was very good (Mongolian spare ribs, I believe - this was a couple years ago). I remember doing a sake flight - new experience - this after a few gin and tonics. After that, I don't remember that much.

Check the current menus for both places; that might help you decide.

If I did a sake flight and then some rounds of gin and tonic. I would not remember even being there.....

After that dinner we went up to the RPR lobby and all I wanted to do was sit in one of those plush chairs and nod off for a while. Problem: we were staying at HRH. So DW hauled me up and we (I) staggered back to Citywalk to catch the boat back to HRH.

No more sake for me.

Lol........

My husband enjoys the Sake from Orchids and Tchoup Chop....... Once he gets into those chairs he doesn't want to move either.........

The cocktails at Tchoup Chop are awesome. We really enjoyed the food. The sushi was really good and innovative. We haven't done Emeril's though.

Do we need to make reservations for Tchoup Chop the last week of August or is it pretty easy to walk up?

A little off subject: while staying at Portofino one year we ended up in the lobby bar there one night. We sat at the bar and I watched as another patron ordered some drink that fascinated me as I watched the bartender make it. It was the way he did it: bourbon, something else, something else, something else, shake, strain, pour. The only thing I remember was it included Woodford Reserve bourbon and bitters. I never at the time thought to ask what it was (I might have been incapable of forming the right sentence at the time).

It didn't register at the time but for some reason this lingered with me to the point of obsession: what was that drink? It looked sooooo good at the time. I started researching and after much digging I believe it was a Manhattan: bourbon, sweet vermouth, bitters, with muddled cherries and cherry juice. I began to make them myself but something was missing. The drink at the bar poured out very creamy looking and, try as I might, I can not to this day get that same creamy appearing texture. Did the bartender slip something special into the recipe?

I'm on a mission for our trip this November: make my way to that bar, order a Woodford Manhattan, and pray that same recipe is used. Write the recipe out. Then I'll have my answer. At the least, a well-made Manhattan.

I don't know. We did, but I am an anal planner. When we arrived on 7/20 at 8:30pm, it wasn't very busy. However, it got real busy right after we got there. It seemed that half the restaurant was taken up by a convention. They had that partitioned off with a curtain. The people who arrived may have been part of that group though.

I do hope you can solve this puzzle

And stay sober enough to get the recipe once you are there and enjoying that drink!

Tchoup Chop all the way!!! I did the chef's dinner and it was amazing! I have been to both also and I really like the atmosphere better at Tchoup Chop! Also I took the water taxi there and that was a fun way to do it.

Woodford Reserve is good. I still have a bottle of double oaked. We toured the factory in Lexington a few months ago. Share the recipe when you figure it out!

A Manhattan is not made with a shaker. But, we spend a lot of time at our Hotel bar in Chicago. There is a free Social Hour every evening. The bartender suggested putting egg white into our Manhattans. Then he used the shaker. They come out foamy and creamy and delicious!
