thats what virgin try and do in all departments..market..market .sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt

TCD has always worked for us so negative things from us. We booked direct with disney travel this time flying with virgin apparently!! be an interesting flight and compare we shall..

i am BA fan im afraid having been an employee so im definately not biased as i would always travel with BA. there flighta are coming down like me share prices !!!

TCD are back on the 5th but as a trading arm of Virgin holidays who have purchased the brand name and it will be 'no frills' Virgin holidays on their and a few other USA Carrier flights.

I wonder if we can use Tesco vouchers for TCD? I also wonder what planes will be used. We have flown TCD and Virgin. Both companies were good. What we liked was the TVs in the seats which TCD did not have at the time. We would like to go back this year but the $ is too strong so at present we are put off. However, we do like Disney and have not ruled it out completely.

£602 cheaper with Virgin (or £683 with 10% FVC disc)

On the TCD quote it states £1,176 for the hotel, £84/night This is a £30/night hotel. We only paid £20/night Xmas 06, peak time.

Didn't go as far as car hire.

yes i priced up 27th aug for pofq with dining plan it was 3567 for 2 adults, so expensive. thats without tickiets and car hire

I booked it all seperately and its coming to 2400 for everything

Just priced up a couple of holidays towards the end of August and getting prices of £2700+ staying offsite in Lake Buena Vista, nowhere near tempting enough for me to book anything, it surprises me *** I thought that TCD was going to be the 'budget' end of the Virgin Holidays, to be honest, with prices like that, I can't see the point of bringing TCD back!

TCD coming in at £2098.00 for same hotel, dates etc not a direct flight though, via newark with continental both are without car hire and no insurances but in this instance TCD are cheaper.

Didn't know they were offering indirect flights, I have checked many dates from Manch now, all searches have returned Virgin flights in economy, economy out PE return or no availability, no offer of indirect. Maybe they are only doing indirect from Glasgow as they only run a limited service rom there with their own planes.
Only way of saving a little is booking via Quidco giving you 3% cashback, only saves about £100 though. Indirect saves £1,000, I would not pay £250pp for direct.
Best option is DIY you can get USairways flights from £1,344 + QIP for £318 Total £1,662, £436 cheaper than TCD.

thanks wayne, have checked 1st 2nd and 5th oct and all seem to be via newark with continental, the original flights from glasgow were on a monday in sept and oct in their own tcd branded 747 aircraft, from glasgow.

have ordered the brochure and will keep an eye out when its time to book for our next (hopeful) trip in 2010.
i wouldnt mind going on a indirect flight at all if its cheaper.

Just priced up for family of 4 (2 adults 2 child), staying at POR, tickets and DDP, car hire, and flying from Gatwick, end of June - $4878!!!
Pretty much same price as with Virgin holidays, except they don't include car hire.
Booking it all separately I got it £780 cheaper!
And couldn't details of flights from Glasgow!
Not as good value as before.

It's nothing like the value preciously offered by TCD.

Not only that, there is no Flydrive option, so that rules it out for those of us in DVC.

Shame, because TCD used to be a good alternative.

The reason they are more expensive than previous is because they are now using Virgin scheduled flights not XL charters - that has to add to the cost.

Also I found this article and it seems they concentrating on budget hotels and villas rather than the fly drive side. Don't think they would want to compete with VH really as that will only lower their own margins!

I was so disappointed with the quotes I got from TCD yesterday. 2 adults flying out 7th Aug 14 nights in cheap Kissimmee hotel with car - just over 1600 each

We have managed to get virgin flydrive and Pop Century plus 14 day Disney pass and Orlando flexi ticket for 1400 on the same dates.

It's madness I tell you

I never thought I'd see the day that Virgin came up trumps for us!
