When I was looking through the TCD website, it mentioned that if you attend the welcome meeting, you get a booklet which will give you hundreds of dollars worth of discounts.
We already have all our tickets so arent sure whether to go to the meeting as we don't want to get the hard sell when we already have everything booked and paid for.

Has anyone been to a welcome meeting and is it worth attending the welcome meeting and are the discount booklets any good or is it a $5 of for every $500 you spend kind of discounts?

Ta muchly!!!

Don't bother. Most of what they give you, you can already get in any free tourist magazines found in most shops and restaurants.

You can pop into TCDs "welcome center" at anytime to pick up coupons and leaflets. I think its open 8am till noon. Staff border on disinterested to overtly smarmy, depending on whether they think you are going to buy $500 of tickets or are just there to swipe the coupons (90% of people fall into the latter catergory) :D...just ignore them and scoop up as many freebie bits as you want, then leave. As its on the Lake Buena Vista Factory Outlets complex, you can do a bit of shopping as well. All the tourist orientated restaurants (Sizzler, Ponderosa, Golden Corral et al) also have copious amounts of said coupons, without the bonus feature of a snotty Travel City Rep.

Edited to Add: The coupons generally offer 10% - 15% off meals in certain restaurants. Sometimes Free Kids Meals. Places like Reebok usually have a $10 off if you spend over $50 or something similar. Others offer a couple of $$ off minor attractions like Boggy Creek Airboats or the (awful) Dinner Shows. Thats the sort of thing to expect, not $$$$ off Disney stuff!!

Thanks for the info - dont think we'll bother but if we are shopping there then I might pop in.

One question Allie - are the dinner shows really awful? We have got tickets to go to the Pirates one and the Dolly Parton one (mums idea!)

Thanks

Dinner Shows.

Well, I guess its a personal thing. Virgin used to offer them as a freebie a few years ago and I remember mediocre entertainment, surly servers and third rate food (oh, and VERY uncomfortable seats!!) . We hated them and wouldnt go back....for the price you pay, then I would much rather have a lovely meal at one of the Disney Restaurants. You can choose a character meal like Mickey's Backyard BBQ or just simply fantastic food at Artists Point or Yachtsmans steakhouse.

I have heard that the new Dolly Parton show is a lot better than some of the older Dinner shows. Maybe someone can comment who has been to that one??
