Hi all,

I have booked return TC flights for our trip in September for me, DH, DS 18, DD 21 from Manchester to Orlando but my DD has been accepted into the Disney College program (YAY!) to work there June - August so won't need the outward part of her ticket. Disney has told the successful applicants that their work visa is valid for an additional month after the end of their contract so she can stay over there to travel and meet us on our arrival on 6th September. She may have to leave the country to end the visa and come back in on her esta but that should only mean a trip into Mexico or one of the Caribbean islands I think.

I read something online where TC cancelled the return seat when someone hadn't checked in for the outward leg, so I plan to contact TC shortly to ask the question and I'm not bothered about the full cost as it's all paid for anyway.

Just wondered if any of you had experience of this?

xx

airline policiy is simple

if you don't check in for a leg, any subsequent leg will be cancelled without refund.

so if she's booked on the MAN-MCO and don't check in (and board) that plane, her MCO-MAN flight will be cancelled (full loss of ticket, no refund)

contact TC, but you might have to cancel her whole itinerary (with corresponding penalties) and rebook a one-way ticket which will be far more expensive than her round trip ticket.

If that's the case then she can book herself a return instead of one way when she sorts her flight out to go in June, but that might cause problems as her visa will only be until early September and then she'll transfer to the tourist esta for the rest of her stay. She has to visit the US embassy soon so she can run it by them.

I'll speak to TC this week.

We booked one way MCO to MAN last summer and found their prices to be the cheapest out of all the carriers for a single leg. It was charged in dollars - we did book as soon as the flights were loaded.

She's now thinking she'll book a return anyway and come back home in August before we travel out on holiday, probably be a lot less hassle!
