Hey everyone! I need some help/inf if anyone has any ideas on how to do this.... Matt was working on the A/C unit in the pop up- and after he got all that back together, he went to open it up to test it out- but when we were cranking it up, one of the cables popped off of the pulley so one corner will not go up/stay up.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this or is it something that only a repair facility can fix? We really cant afford to take it to an RV repair shop or anything like that...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!!!
Cheryl

Try this website www.rvworkshop.com/pop_up_camper_parts.html they may have the manual for your particular pop-up, which has a diagram of the pulley system. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the hardest, this job rates around a 7. The big thing is the top has to be raised to fix it. Make sure the top is supported strongly and safely when you go working on it. Are you sure the cable is broke, or is it possible it slipped off the pulley?

Tell Matt to buy about 3-4 cases of beer and Tungpo and I'll come by and fix it. The 3-4 cases is just a starter so be prepared to go to WinnDixie. :lmao:

Seriously, if Matt needs some help I'll drop by this weekend.

We had this problem on our pop up when I was a kid. My dad did not have time to fix it before we left for FW. So he cut a 2x4 the right length to hold up the one corner while on the trip. He replaced a couple of pulleys when we got back.

:rotfl2: I told tigg that is what I was going to do if I couldn't get it fixed. I will take stacktester up on his offer to help and hopfully I will not need 4 2x4s when we are done the 4 cases of beer.

Tungpo is coming too. Make that 6 cases to start things off. :lmao:

We polished off a 12 pack at least when we did my lift kit. That was before we even took the lift out the box.:lmao: The other case was for just thinking about it.

Fixing it sounds like a better idea. Wish I was there to drink beer I mean help(drink beer). You guy should have a good time working on it. I met Donnie at FW. He is the only other person I know that has gone through as much trouble as me to take a golf cart to FW.

Well my lift is done, I still need to mount front and rear lights, Fix the popup cable, fix the fridge, clean out the garage to fit the cart. Clean up the house, finish painting the living room, run wires for my rear surround speakers, and work 45 hours a week.

Think I can get it all done with packing to leave on the 28th?!? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

If you were female, you'd have all that done PLUS the laundry, meal planning, groceries bought, floors mopped, camper packed, vacuuming done, windows washed....all in about 6 hours!!! Then... you'd get dinner prepared, help the kids with homework, bathe them, tuck them into bed, do the dinner dishes, straighten the house, pack lunches for kiddies, throw in another load of wash, catch up on e-mails & Disboard, call both grandma's,,,,, all by 8pm, and still have time to watch your favorite evening programs!! :rotfl2:

I handle all the major stuff for our trips, as well as any painting, cleaning etc so I dont know what HE'S complaining about :lmao:He only needs to worry about fixing the broken stuff and hauling the camper to and from storage... If it were up to him to do all the other stuff- we'd never get anywhere!:rotfl: Though I get to add one more thing to his list cause the washer broke last night and flooded out the hallway- so that needs to get fixed too

My list for today inculdes- repainting the living room and boys bedrooms, and spring cleaning in the kitchen not to mention my regular day to day stuff.....

12 days to go... think we can get it all done?:dance3:

Finish the cart fix the camper. The rest can wait till you get back. One thing that is amazing about home repairs they always wait for you they never just disappear.:confused3 Oh well gives me something to do. Reminds me I need to go buy paint and tile.:headache:

We found that in a pinch, a spring tension shower rod works pretty good at holding up the corner of a pop up camper and you can hide it under the flap.
