Taxis to theme parks?

I just heard this morning that you can take a taxi directly to Animal Kingdom and to the Studios. You may even be able to get pretty close to Epcot via taxi, as well. Does anyone know if this is true, and has anyone ever done it? Thanks.

Yes, it's true (taxis will take you anywhere they can legally and safely access); no, I've never used a taxi to get to/from a park; and it's your money .

At Epcot, the taxi stand is in the middle of the bus area.

This is true, but the $$ will add up quickly. I've taken a taxi to both MK & Epcot - in Epcot it's not far from the entrance at all - just out past the Disney Transportation buses, but before the offsite buses. For MK it's not as easy, they CANNOT go to the gates at MK. They can only go to the Ticket & Transportation Center. They drop you in the taxi area, which isn't even right by the Monorial. You have to walk over to the Monorail & hop on that to MK.

Thanks for the info. We usually try to stay in the Boardwalk area, and being able to walk to 3 of the 4 parks (if you count walking through Epcot to the monorail and going to MK that way) really spoils you after a while. When we finally have to board a bus to AK, we often dread it (usually because of how crowded they are and the multiple stops). Because I've never seen taxis when we've entered the theme parks, I've been under the assumption that they weren't allowed to get near the park entrances. Thanks again.

I have a question

I know that when you ride in a cab you are responsible for all tolls. Therefore I assume that you will have to pay the $12 parking fee in addition to the cab fare. Is this true?

No, there were be no parking fees when using a taxi. They do not go into the general parking areas to drop off. All the drop off points are where the buses are, except for MK which drops off at T&T.

We took a taxi from BC to AKL once and the toll was about $15 with tip.

I forgot that the cabs at TTC are near the POLY but to get to the cabs at EPCOT and HS you have to go thru the Toll Plaza. What happens then, are you responsible for the parkng fee at those locations?

No. The taxis are taxis and are recognized as such by the CMs at the entrance plaza. As such, and because each park has a designated taxi area, the drivers are not considered to be parking and so do not pay to park.

We normally take Disney transportation there have been times when we are sooo tired we've gotten a taxi and it has been well worth it. Especially when going from resort to resort. Can't do it a lot because of budget, but it's nice to have when you need it.
