Don quote me on this because I could be wrong, but around here taxis are exempt and you do not have to have a car seat. I know that is true in California as well. But my only experience in Florida would tell me that is true but I am not sure. On our last vacation, my granddaughter was asleep after a long day, we could not wake her and papa was having a hard time, so when we got to poly we asked for a taxi over to shades of green, I know lazy, only 1/4 mile but you can't carry a sleeping 5 year old after the parks all day. We never even thought of a car sit until now, they had none. I would not recommend it but I believe taxis are exempt from the law. And I do know that to be true in Washington, I am amazed that a mother can leave the hospital with an infant/newborn without a car seat if they are using a taxi. Of course our hospital has new ones for such occassions and freely give them to any mother going by taxi home.
