After the late nighttime shows and parades (Illuminations, Wishes etc) has anyone opted to taxi back to your hotel from the parks rather that waiting in the massive bus lines? Is this even an option and if so, where can you catch or call a taxi?

We've walked from MK to Contemporary Resort after and Evening extra magic hours night. Bus lines were insane. Took about 5 minutes to walk, cabs were right there at CR and cost us about $15 to get back to All Star Music. We were probably already enjoying a late night swim before we would have even got on a bus! :thumbsup2 Plan on doing same thing in a few weeks.

We've actually budgeted about $100 for cabs next month. Plan on using them regularly to skip the bus lines. Still cheaper than renting a car that we don't really need.

There are taxi stands where taxis are always waiting outside each park; the exception is MK, where you need to go to the TTC or, as pp said, walk to Contemporary to get a cab there (the best option).

We regularly rely on the taxis for getting to/from parks or going to/from dinners at other resorts, etc. We certainly use the buses/boats/monorail as much as practical, but when it is late, and we're tired, or the crowds are insane (as is the case as closing/after fireworks, etc.) then we hop in a taxi. Time is money at WDW, and for us it makes sense to budget in some taxi money to make the most of our trip.

Excellent information. I was just trying to figure out if I was going to rent a car, and came up with the same solution. Cabs would be cheaper in the long run, and no hassles at the airport picking up and dropping off.

Exactly! With all the added costs, returning with full gas, heck...just returning it at all, so much easier to take Magical Express to WDW and call cabs. No parking hassles (those lots are HUGE!!!), no bus line ups where I probably will have to stand up for the whole ride back after a very long day. Sooo nice to sit in the back of a nice air conditioned cab and let them take us door to door!! :cloud9:

And the taxi drivers know where they are going! One of the many reasons we use WW transportation and then take taxis when we need/want to (rather than renting a car) is that we don't need the added stress/hassle of finding our way around the property -- door-to-door service by people who know exactly where they are going is SO worth it!

I've done this too---we saw Illuminations up by France, and rather than walk to the front, we walked out the Intl. Gateway, to the front of Beach Club, and had the bellman call us a cab. We had to wait a bit for the cab, but it was much more pleasant than the cattle call for buses.

That is a GREAT TIP!

As we have a dinner ADR at Chefs on our MNSSHP night @ 4:30PM and want to get to the MK asap after the dinner. So the Beach Club is close then, also in taking the cab to the CR, is it within walking distance to the MK from the CR?
I am thinking this would be faster then taking the monorail......:confused3

I took my mom one year and when Illuminations was done; the buses were mobbed. They were not only filling the seats, but making people get into the bus to fill up the aisles. After watching two buses leave like that and noticing that we were far enough back in the line that we might be standing, I opted for a cab. I always carry some cash, just in case I have to do that again.

My DH is questioning the availability of cabs - can anyone give me info to calm his fears!
