Does anyone know how much it would be to take a taxi from the airport (Orlando) to the Disney Grounds (Shades of Green)?? Approx? There are 5 of us? I'm trying to come up with a plan for transportation and am deciding whether we want to do one day car rentals, or taxis or what?? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. We are staying at Shades of Green for just one night, then the Beach Club for 3 nights and then heading to Cape Canveral for a 4 night cruise. So our thought is to rent a car the day we fly in and then drop it off once we are on the Disney grounds; rent another one the day we drive to the cruise and drop it off that same day; then rent one the day we get back and drop it off at the airport.

I'm open to suggestions. thanks.

Have you tried pricing a town car service? For our family of 4 it was the best and lowest priced option and we get a private pickup!

A taxi is about $50 one way, about the same as a towncar service.

I've heard mixed reports on whether the taxis are "fixed rate" to Disney property or no - you might want to call the Orlando airport and ask. They should have someone who works the taxi area that can give you a lot of information.

Many DisBoards who don't rent use towncars. I'm actually leaning towards a taxi rather than a towncar for our next visit however. I don't get someone meeting me at the luggage carrosel and will have to haul my own luggage (so a towncar pickup from the airport might be nice), but I had a bad return trip - and don't know I want to risk another one - taxi's are always hanging around at the resorts and are probably just as easy to catch back where they will drop you with a skycap. Enough people have posted with towncars that their return trip was problematic, that I'm having some doubts - especially when a problematic return trip can mean catching or missing your plane.

(I did have a fine towncar experience when we cruised - but had seven hours to catch a plane, so we weren't at all stressed for time).

Wow..........very busy planning. Im assuming the group is 2 adults, 3 kids. Are you in the villa's @ the BC??

Here's some suggestions:

When the confirmation comes from SOG, there should be discount tickets in it for the "shuttle" from the airport. Yes..maybe its a little longer to get there but you're on vacation. If you're @ the BCV..maybe you would want to rent a car (National..read further)to go grocery shopping.

When you will move to the BC...Disney will supply "free" transportation to another Disney resort...so let them know!!

OK...now @ the BC.
National Car Rental services are located in the Swan/Dolphin Hotel (next door to the YC), cant remember if its the S or D.

You can (I have) take the boat from BC to S/D, get off, get the car and ...on your way!!t:hyper:

Dont know your plans after the cruise....where the airport is??maybe just take a taxi??

Have a "Super Vacation" !!:cheer2: :cheer2:

I have done the 1 day at a time rental, and it couldn't be easier. You pick up the car at the airport, and drop it off 24 hours later at the Dolphin or car care center. When I dropped off at the Dolphin, a valet came to the car, took care of all of the paper work, and I was on my way. The rental gives you the freedom to go by the grocery store or park hop to a favorite restaurant for dinner the first night. The cost for a one day rental should be less than the cost of a taxi, which was $48 plus tip the last time I took a taxi back to the airport. (It's not a flat fee, but the cost is about the same from any resort.) I will definitely do the one day rentals again. It works well for me.
