How much does it cost to take a taxi from Orlando Airport to the Grand Foridian? I understand that the Magical Express can take forever!

Go to www.mearstransportation.com, then click on the "taxi" link. There's a fare calculator.

But define "forever". The average time from entering the terminal to being dropped at your Disney resort is 70 minutes. NOT from when you get onto the bus, not from when you get into the line - but from the plane to the hotel, 70 minutes. Some rides are slower, some faster. From when I entered the terminal to when I got off the bus at Pop last September - 59 minutes.

Now, figure: Five to ten minutes from the plane to baggage claim, fifteen to twenty minutes waiting for and pulling your luggage (note that DME will not transport your luggage if you don't check in and board the bus), five to fifteen minutes from there to getting into the taxi, twenty five to thirty minutes to your resort. Fifty to seventy five minutes by taxi. Fifty-plus dollars, plus tolls and tip, vs free. You decide.

We took a taxi once on our first trip many years ago -- I remember it being atleast $50.. You might want to consider a town car, or even renting a car (it actually can be cheaper to rent a car for 1 day, twice!)

We used Tiffany town car - it is $95 and there is a $5 coupon on their website, so $90. They will be waiting for you by the baggage area, they can make a grocery stop, and on the way back you can go a little later than the 3.5 hours or so that ME makes you do.

Check out the mousesavers transportation section -- and if you are thinking about a taxi read the taxi section about 'gypsy' cabs..

The last time I went to WDW, I took Mears shuttle and it cost me...I'm wanting to say, $25 for a round trip for one. Is it still fairly reasonable to take Mears? Is their ticket counter still directly below the luggage area? Thanks.

It will be about $50 before tip to take a taxi. I think many people have had great luck with DME.

CapeCodTenor - if you are staying on property and want to take mears, check into using magical express. I think Disney contracted out with Mears and so Mears is running Magical Express.. and magical express would be free! If you have already booked your room, just call them back and ask them to add Magical Express to your reservation - they will send you your vouchers in the mail.

The taxis at the airport are the quickest way to the Grand Floridian, if you are in a hurry. The fare is up there, about $55.00, but after you pick up luggage you are assigned a van or sedan and will be on your way. Usually about 30 minutes to the resorts by taxi.
