taxi to port

We will be arriving via taxi from the National Car Rental Office. My question is we want to arrive early, like 10:00 on Saturday. Is there a problem getting to the port early and waiting till we can go inside? We have done this with our own car and just waiting across the street before the would let us unload and park. Can we just wait in the unload terminal area? Thank you for your advice and help!
