Taxi to POR after Illuminations?

I have read that the buses to POR can be very backed up after Illuminations since everyone leaves at the same time. I also read that instead some people leave Epcot via the International Gateway and get a taxi from one of the nearby hotels. If we did that, what hotel would we head for and roughly how much would the taxi be? Also, as we are a family of five, would taxis that fit us be readily available? Thanks

You can go over to the Beach Club to get a cab. BC is the closest resort to Epcot. It would probably run about $15 (including tip). They can call a van for you if the cars won't hold 5 people.

There usually is a mass exodus after Illuminations so that the lines get backed up for the busses. If you anticipate that, however, and just take your time going out of the park, it's not really that horrible. WDW transportation does a pretty decent job bringing in busses as needed to take care of the various park closings.

Also, another thing you might choose to do is to take a bus from Beach or Boardwalk to Downtown Disney. Do stuff there and then take your boat to POR. (There is no bus directly to DTD from the themeparks.)

Thanks Sandi and that gives me some good options. I'll wait and see how we feel but will make sure I have the cash for a cab if we go that option

You could always head to the park entrance and check out the bus lines. IF they are extremely long, you can catch a cab right there.

We did that the last time we closed EPCOT and it worked out great. I think the fare was around $15.

I was going to say the same thing. POR is closer to the front of Epcot that from the Epcot resorts.
