taxi service inside Disney

Are taxis readily available at the resorts or do they have to be called- for example- getting to an early breakfast at AK from Beach Club?

Beach Club and AK do not usually have taxi service readily available, on the stand, early in the morning. You could call Mears and request a time call. In other words the taxi would be pulling up about the time you need to get to the breakfast. Mears will alert a particular taxi to be there when you want to be picked up. The bellstand has the Mears number to be called for that service.

I stayed at the Beach Club a couple of weeks ago and my husband and I took quite a few cabs throughout Disney property. They were always right there, never had to be called. As a matter of fact, a few times we didn't even have the valet "whistle" for him. We just walked right over and got in the cab.

We took cabs to the Wilderness Lodge, Grand Floridian and during Tropical Storm Alberto my husband took a cab from the BC to the Dolphin (he was there on buisness). The taxi had no problem just taking him and his co-workers so close. I saw taxis hanging around almost all the Disney hotels we were at.

You can get a cab from any of the WDW resorts. Bell services can call one for you if you don't see any sitting there. It's very easy.

Can cabs drop you off to the parks? Is there a drop off lane where they don't have to stop at a parking gate?

They can drop you off at most parks except for MK which you would have to go to the TTC entrance unlike the Disney Buses which take you to the MK Front gate.

Just returtned from AKL and just about if not everytime we walked to bus there was a MEARS yellow taxi just sitting there waiting for fare.

MEARS has its hands into everything disney and people call disney the evil empire.

If it weren't for Disney, Mears probably would not exist. Mears is a stepcild of Disney.

We took a taxi from Yacht Club after our IllumiNations cruise and another from AKL after dinner. Both times the valet had to phone for a taxi, but the wait wasn't horrible either time.
