Unfortunately search is disabled, so Ill ask.

I am planning on arriving a little after 10pm, so Disneyland Express is not possible (I really wanted to skip the carseat on this trip, and from what I understand they wouldve been my only choice for that).

The truth is I have a fear of taxis and its been years since I have gotten on one. So, will they get pissy if I try to install a carseat, will they skip us because of the hassle, or will they try to charge us for the time they wait while we install one? And is it better to ask for a flat rate, we will be arriving at SNA, or is this the norm? Last time I got on a taxi I got charged twice what the internet said I should be charged, cause we got taken the long way.

Not sure about the taxi pricing, but I did hear that ALL connercial vehicles that transport paying customers do not require kids to be in car seats. Legally you don't have to, wether or not you should put them in a seat if for you to decide. You do have other options besides taxis; there are shuttles (like super shuttle), private car service or limos, or you can just rent a car!

Thanks. I thought supershuttle also required adults to provide a carseat. Its nice to know they are working past 10pm.

Sometimes hiring a private car is not that much more, especially if you are going far and are coming from a location they can likely pick someone else up at.

Law or no law, unless the vehicle is made for no seatbelts (like a coach bus) you're going to want to use the carseat.

We buckled ours into a taxi in Vancouver in a very short amount of time. If you're used to LATCH, practice in your car using the seatbelt. Memorize your manual so you know what to do.

Ask for the flat rate, but some haven't gotten it recently. If there's more than one adult going, have one adult taking their time about getting luggage into the trunk, etc, while the other adult is installing the seat. :)

I have ALWAYS used car seats in taxis. The reason you don't need them in buses is because they are much safer in the case of an accident.

You don't even need to ask for the flat rate to Disneyland, I'm pretty sure they just do it. From LGB the flat rate was $45, but is is further away than SNA so I would assume it is cheaper from SNA. Since it is a flat rate they may start the meter but it is not going to matter, their flat rates are posted inside, take as much time installing the car seat as you like, I am sure you are not the first to put a car seat in there. If you only have a few people, it might be better to do super shuttle and pay per person (I think kids under 3 are free)

Please bring a car seat for you child ~ how old is he/she? Perhaps a backless booster would be good, whatever you take with you consider gate checking it, or having your child use it on the plane, if you check it with your luggage there's risk of it getting lost or damaged, I've flown with my 2 children and no other adults a few times ~ I've brought along at least a backless booster each time and I never check it with checked luggage. The taxi won't care and won't charge you for installing your child's seat.
