Taxi options in the Anaheim area

I'll be at a work dinner at a restaurant near Angel Stadium and will then want to go to Disneyland for the last few hours that night. Are taxis plentiful in Anaheim, meaning can I flag one down on the street like I do here in NYC? Or do I need to call one ahead of time to pick me up and take me to DLR?

Has anyone used Uber or the other ride apps in Anaheim?

At the Amtrak station at Angel Stadium I've seen taxis at that location. You might want to consider uber which I personally prefer over taxis.

Or try ART of you're near a stop. There's one at ARTIC. You're probably not going to flag down a taxi as it's not common and drivers aren't looking out for it. The restaurant could probably call you a taxi, or give you a number. There is a taxi stand at DLR on Harbor.

Thanks for the tips! Sounds like Uber or ART may be the easiest, and calling a taxi would work as well. Thanks!

It's not that you can't, but Orange County taxis aren't quite as dense as NYC taxis. There's always the possibility of randomly flagging down an available taxi, but that's kind of a slim chance. Taxis will tend to wait at designated taxi stands. Amtrak was mentioned. I would expect taxis to line up after events at the Honda Center or Anaheim Stadium. Many of the big convention center hotels have taxis lining up. And of course there's a taxi stand right in front of Disneyland. It's on Harbor just south of the esplanade. They used to have 15 minute parking until there were too many complaints that it was abused. Right now it's a taxi stand on one side and a passenger dropoff/pickup area on the other with no waiting.

Taxi permits are basically allowances to operate in any part of Orange County. So a taxi picking up a passenger at Orange County Airport to drop off in Anaheim can then try to pick up a passenger in Anaheim.

Thanks! That helps, it sounds like I'll be able to get a taxi from my convention hotel, the Hilton Anaheim. But if I'm in a more remote location, I'll need to call a taxi or try Uber, especially if I need to get to DL in a hurry and not waste valuable evening time. :-)

I believe that outside of specific places and events, it's going to be difficult to just randomly flag down a taxi like you could in a place like NYC or even downtown LA. Southern California is dominated by private cars. You mentioned the Hilton Anaheim. They had some controversy because they entered into an exclusive agreement with Yellow Cab of OC to pick up passengers there. Other cab companies protested/sued, especially since many convention goers walk to the hotel to get a taxi ride, especially if it's a small convention when taxi drivers don't typically line up at the convention center.

Anyone have an idea of taxi or shuttle for 4 from Long Beach Airport to Disneyland resort

Taxifarefinder.com is estimating $63 to $86 including tip for LGB to Disneyland. It's going to be about 20 miles, and waiting in rush hour traffic will raise the total fare.

We used Primetime Shuttle for our round trip from LGB to the Grand Californian last Nov. There was five of us and it was $166 total not including tip. We opted to get the 7 passenger non-share shuttle. They were are the airport when we landed and called to confirm right after we landed and told us where to find them at the airport. The shuttle was very clean and the driver personable and courteous. We told them on the reservation when we wanted to return to the airport and they called the day before I believe to confirm. They were right on time to pick us up for the return trip. Hope that helps! :D

Controversy at the Hilton Anaheim, interesting! :-) Thanks for sharing that.

It sounds like Uber is going to be the way to go, though I did listen to the DIS podcast on the ART recently, and it sounds like if I'm going to the parks, I can catch the ART bus near the Angels stadium, which is near The Catch restaurant where my reception will be.

Disneyland also has an exclusive pickup agreement with Yellow. They had theirs before the Hilton.

The first of March this year, 5 of us flew into LGB. There's a taxi stand right in front of the terminal. I asked for a Flat Rate mini-van for the 5 of us to DLR. It was $50. The mini van had room for all of us and our luggage.

The driver chose to take surface streets to DLR instead of the freeways. The return taxi to LGB was again a mini-van. This time the Flat Rate was $55 and the driver took the freeway.
