anybody know what the cost is recently with the increases in gas prices? I think it was around $ 30 or so last year but I can't recall specifically.

Trying to figure out a budget for this year.

Thanks and Happy 4th Weekend to All....

We took it the opposite way - RPR to MCO and it was under $40, so much cheaper than taking Mears which surprised me:thumbsup2

You may like also to book one of the transportation companies for a private car. It's usually about the same as a taxi, but they'll greet you at luggage pickup (which is nice) and stop a few minutes to pick up snacks/drinks at a grocery store. We've done that a few times.

the cheapest i have seen for this year for car service for the rt you need has been $92. this includes a grocery stop of 30 minutes.

mears shuttle that you pre arrange at the airport would be cheaper if you don't have more than 2 in your party.

I have 5 in my party. Is the best route taxi or hire one of the trans. services?

if it were me and i had 5 in my party, i would use car service.

reasons why:

1. you can arrange the time of pick up and return pick up. no waiting for a taxi to be called.

2. car service has clean cars, and comfy seating.

taxis don't always have that. they do not always clean their vehicle after each fare leaves the car.

3. car service will provide free car seats if you request it in advance.

taxis, no car seats for children

4. car service will wait up tot 15 minutes for you past the assigned pick up time with no extra charge. after that, there is a charge. most car services have employees check the airline website to see if there are delays for your flight. therefore, if that happens, no extra charge to you in those cases. you don't have to call the car service company to make them aware of the delay.

taxis would leave without you if you are not there at the designated spot when they arrive. they can pick up another fare and then you have to call again and wait.

5. if you travel in rush hour or have a delay on the interstate/roads due to an accident, no additional charge for your party. car service is based on going from point A to point B only.

taxis have a meter running. they charge per mile and time in the taxi. get stuck in traffic in rush hour or an accident happens and traffic stops, you pay for the time in the vehicle.

6. car service will / can accommodate 5 people for transporting to a destination.

taxis charge for all extra people after the first person in the vehicle.

i have more reasons why i avoid taxis but you really don't want to hear all of them...........

yes, i have taken taxis before and car service.
depending on the time you travel from the airport to universal hotels, will determine how long the ride can be.

also, if you are in car service, they will get off the highway and take an alternative way to get you where you need to go. they have other fares to take care of and aren't in the business to prolong your ride anymore than necessary.

if you are a member of mfl, you can get a discount from some of the car service companies
