I am thinking about taking a taxi from the Parks back to my resort (POP) at night or when the bus line seems to crowded and i was wondering how hard that would be.

I am afraid that if I call the taxi someone else will take my taxi and i will end up waiting for ever to get one. Is this a valid concern????

From my experience, though not using one, there are alot of cabs waiting in the bus area in each park through out the night. I believe they are stationed there to pick up fares to wherever. I don't think you need to call one personally but can hail one from the bus parking area. Others may post and correct me if I'm wrong.

Its hard for me to understand that someone trying to save some money, staying values, then not utilize the free bus transportation because of a wait. Cabs are not cheap to cruise around Disney property. We once took a cab from the Poly to Pop, on Disney's dime and the rate was 18.00. To me, thats alot of money for a short ride.

It is much easier to get a taxi from a resort, so this little trick works well.

well, if I upgraded to a mod it would be $400 extra, It I upgraded to a Delux it would be anywhere from $800- 1500 extra. If I rent a car the cheapest I have found for my dates with tax and fees is about a little less than $200.

If I take a cab a few nights when (if) the lines are horribly long (with a 20 month old) i can estimate that i would spend a max of about $100 for 5 nights. Because I have saved by staying at a value I can afford to spend a little extra for a cab when i am tired at the end of the night.

You would not be able to take a taxi from the MK you would have to take transportation to the TTC and get a taxi from there, or you could walk to the CR and take a taxi from there. By the time you went through all that you could have been on a bus and on your way to the POP.
You can get a taxi from the other parks but you have to go out to the parking lot areas to do so.
I would be prepared to pay more for the taxi ride when the parks close as you have all the cars leaving the parking lot so you may sit in traffic with the meter running.
