Taxi from John Wayne Airport?

This might seem very similar to another recent thread...because that one reminded me that I wanted to ask this: about how much would a taxi cost from John Wayne Airport to the HoJo? I'm trying to decide whether we should rent a car at the airport or wait and pick it up the next day in Anaheim--that would allow us to get the weekly rental rate and save us about $150 over picking it up at the airport. So I just need to figure out if we'd save enough money to make it worth the added hassle.

It should cost you around $45. We paid $47 or $48 one way and $45 the other. You can get a flat rate from the airport (which I believe is $45) but you have to call ahead for it.

$45 really? That is cheaper than the shuttle then right? we will have 5 people going to the pph.. Or do you still have to pay per person in a taxi? how do you set it up? If that is the price we would pay for the 5 of us, then that is way better than $20 or per person.

one adult, 2 kids, 2 bags, and a booster seat in the taxi. The trunk was funky...a huge raised spare tire, so they could only fit one bag in it.

BTW...Robyn, did it end up that you'll be on Southwest, too? If we're on the same flight maybe we could do a JAG van. HoJo set it up for me last time...it was the same price as a cab no matter how many people we would have. I think they could easily handle 8 people...and we'd all be going to the same place!

Let me know if you're on that early flight and want to share. If so, I'll contact the gals at HoJo and ask them to arrange to have JAG pick us up. It would end up costing us a little over $20 each!!! Can't beat that!

We had 3 adults, 2 kids and an infant in a carseat. We were going to wait for the Disneyland bus, but DS spotted a shuttle. I wouldn't have picked them from a list, but..........LUCKY Shuttle has great service. It was $48 each way for all of us. We had 5 suitcases, 2 strollers, 5 backpacks and a diaper bag.

Well worth it in my mind, straight from SNA (John Wayne airport) to HoJo, return trip booked the day before departure, same price.

Just our experience. :)

For 5 people, a taxi is nice and the rate is the same. The taxi companies use a van for larger parties. We took a taxi in October and it worked fine for our family of 5.

However, SuperShuttle can be very cheap! From SNA to DLR it is $10 pp each way, but use this code UYR59 and you can get $3 off each way per person to make it $7. The only problem is they changed their system and now you have to make a separate reservation for each person in order to get that discount, whereas you used to be able to get it per person all in the same reservation. That's $35 total each way for 5 people (plus tip).

But with 5 people/kids involved it's easier to use one of the other SS codes that will give you a discount for each person within the same reservation and you'll still save $2 pp each way. So...for 5 people that's $40 plus tip. Here's a place to find codes: http://www.retailmenot.com/view/supershuttle.com

The nice thing about shuttles is you can pay in advance, including the tip. The nice thing about taxis is you just hop in and go, although we had to wait about 5 minutes for a taxi van. I almost always use SS and never have to wait long. Most of their vans only hold 7, so with a party of 5 you won't have to wait long and might even get the van to yourselves.

ETA: you can only get a flat rate on a taxi from the airport to the resort (not the other way around), and only if you call ahead. Otherwise, it's metered and can be higher than the $45-$48 I stated above during high traffic times

Yes we are taking southwest from Denver..but not the early flight.. my husband just didn't want to get up that early and drive to Denver from Colorado Springs, only an hour or so but with getting there early...nah. We did that 6am one when we went to Orlando last year and we got a hotel in denver, but we were all so tired.
We leave at 1:35pm. That would have been so great to share though. Shoot.

Hey...I was thrilled when I got an e-mail saying they changed the flight from 6:30 to 7,.

From Monument it takes right around an hour to get to the airport. Meaning we'd have to leave around 3:30 or so! UGH.

I think Denver is still doing that $51.80 special on hotel rooms, and I know 2 hotels near the airport were involved. I need to check the cheapies...Motel 8, Comfort Inn, etc, to see if I can find something rock bottom. Maybe I'll try Priceline for once...see if I can get a deal.

My nephew is coming up from Canon to housesit for me. I might see if he can come a day early.

I don't know why I'm such a whiner. When I lived in Kansas City the airport there was further away than DIA is from here...and it's in the same town! I guess the difference is that there you're going through the city the whole way...here you've got that stretch of nothing.

I called and got our PS's today. I forgot to call yesterday...luckily they still had an 11:30 at the Blue Bayou for the 2nd (we're being bad and just having dessert)...and they had the early seating at Goofy's for the next morning. Those are the only sit downs I'm planning for now. One day we'll go to DTD and have lunch while we're there...but I think we'll do the counter service there.

This is my crazy-busy time of year. Life keeps getting in the way of my Disney planning, lol! I've got a couple of things to nail down yet. But, since we are expecting yet another blizzard...3 in a week ...I'll have all day tomorrow to make phone calls!

I don't know about you, but with the weather we've been having this month I am more than ready for a week in California!

Hi fellow Colorado people! Hubby and I are taking our 3 kids the first week of June too :) What is the usual tip for taxi/shuttle drivers? Still can't decide if we are renting a car or not...

so are there cab vans just there at the airport? this is one part of our trip i don't have sorted yet. and it's getting close!!

We used the taxi (van) at SNA for six adults to Paradise Pier and I believe we had the flat rate of $45 each way. I just asked about the flat rate before we agreed to take a taxi.

Hmm I may do the flat rate... are there taxi's just waiting for you or do I need to find a particular cab company? If so, anyone know the name and number?

** and how funny, blue bayou and Goofy's are the 2 we are doing as well! since we are spending the extra $ on concierge, we have to limit sit down's. We are doing BB at 7pm on the 2nd. Not sure about Goofy's yet.

We just took whatever was waiting.
