Taxi Costs

We have a few early morning reservations made for when we head down to WDW in September, and after looking at the transportation estimator on ourlaughingplace.com, it seems like it will take about an hour to get from ASSp to the Grand Floridian and the Poly. Taking that into account, and the late nights that we will probably be having (because of all the fun), I will most likely have a hard time getting my 4 children (11, 9, 6, & 4) up and moving.

Has anyone taken a taxi from any of the All Stars to either of those resorts, and if so, approximately how much did it cost? I'm trying to stick to a budget, and don't know if it will cost $10.00 or $30.00. I am also hoping that all 6 of us will fit in one taxi.

Thanking those of you in advance, for any info you can provide. :)

My DD took a taxi from the GF tp the AKL and it cost her $20 with tip. The AKL is a little further out than the AS resorts so it might be a little less for you.

I did the mears taxi fare estimator and it seemed to be about $10+ tip from ASMU to AKL for dinner. The All Stars are closer to AK, that adds to the cost.

I've found MOST taxi trips to be between $15 and $20 on property by the time you add tip. Its a little more from the MK out the AKL. Its less if you decide (as we have) that the only want to get to DHS from the Boardwalk in time for Fantasmic is to grab a cab - but that was still $7 by the time we tipped.

The bellman will call you a van which will seat all six of you for the same fare.

A passenger taxi cab will NOT seat 6 people. They are real strict about that. So if there are two adults, you'll need to split up and take two cabs which can quite add up. Allow bell to call a passenger van, but DO ask the price before hand. They like to overcharge. :scared1: We had that experience. The guy we called from the outlets took us to our hotel BCV w/o setting up the meter:rolleyes1 and then requested $20. I learned my lesson! I ask now before I enter a cab.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably have to try for a van, and only use it when we absolutely need it (early reservations and off site). I plugged the trips into Mears and now have a good idea what to budget for.

I don't know how our trip would have turned out if I hadn't found this site. There is so much info on here and if it's not here, the helpful posters are always willing to share. Thanks again.

That is a problem regardless of the van or cab situation. The bellman will have approximate fares - they ARE approximate - if you sit in traffic or happen to take a slightly different route, it might be a little different. But if its drastically different, take the cab number. Report the cab number to the cab company and to Disney bell services. Pay by credit card - that will allow you to dispute or backout the charge.

Orlando area taxis are $2.20 for the first ¼ mile and then 55¢ per additional ¼ mile. For example, it is a little over 6½ miles by road from All Stars Sports to Grand Floridian, so taxi would be about $16.50 plus tip.

any idea as to what it would cost for a taxi from Fort Wilderness to Universal Studios? Can you catch a cab from DTD? I am wondering if the taxi may be a little cheaper from there vs. FW?
