lLast stay, the park closed at 7pm on our first day, so getting back to the hotel was no problem. This time(if historic hours pan out), the park will be open till 9. If the bus has a line, are there taxi's available outside MK at closing, or do you have to call one. If so, which company do you prefer? thanks.

Taxis are at the Transportation Center, and will be waiting. This means that you need to take the monorail or ferryboat. They usually have long lines too, so by the time you get over to the TTC, you would have already gotten on a bus, and be nearly back to your resort.

a faster option, you can walk 5 minutes to the contemporary from MK. my DH and i did this in december and got a taxi right away.

You can also take the Resort monorail, its also stops at the TTC,you wont have to wait in the HUGE line for the general monorail to the TTC. And if you want to take it to the Polynesian, it drops you off right at the Great Cermonial house. Go downstairs, and out front, the guys will call a taxi for you , if there isnt one sitting there.

How much would this cost? I was thinking about this since I'll be going with 2 little ones this summer, July 6 to 11 and was wondering if taking a cab once in a while would be worth it. I ALWAYS use the busses but this is the first time I'll be alone with the two kids and I'm thinking that cabs might be better sometimes. What do you all think? We'll be staying at POP Century, (I'm trying to convince them in staying at POFQ, we'll see). TIA

Well, lets see.... i am going to estimate, since I havent been there since last May.

From the Polynesian, which Is my favorite place, taxi''s were about 10-12 dollars for the farthest areas from it, DTD and The AK. so somewhere in that range. (Not including any tip)

So figure more, if you need to go from DTD area to The AK, since that's pretty far!
Maybe someone who has just been can remember a little better.

Taking the resort monorail will often times take longer than the Express monorail, despite the seemingly large line. The Express trains come every 3 minutes, whereas the Resort trains come about every 10. Plus, the train will hold 3x longer in the station, up to 5-7 minutes. Then the train will go to the Contemporary, and hold there as well. Not to mention, the resort train is actually more crowded than the Express. (It comes in half full, so it can only take half as many people...)

I suppose it depends on the time of year, and the hour of the night.

I usually stay at the Polynesian, so I take that monorial for that side.

The line is much shorter, and the when you stop at the contemporary, the stop is pretty short in the night time, since there arent many people getting on or off the thing.

Personally, imho, I would not use the TTC monroail, if the park was emptying, and it was a Saturday night. Now, if it was a Tuesday, maybe.. :D
