Taxi and car seats question

I did a thread check and cannot find any answers to this question. We are flying into SNA and need to get to our hotel. I think a taxi would be easy, we have a family of 4. However, my kids are 6 and 4. My 4 yr old needs a car seat or at least a booster and 6 year old still needs a booster. How does this work with a taxi? Would the Super Shuttle be better? Do they provide car seats? Thank you!

We just returned from a trip to DL and experienced this very problem. After extensive research, the best I found is that if you take a taxi or shuttle (Super Shuttle included) you have to have a car seat for kids 6 and under. If you use a commercial bus (i.e. Disneyland Express) you don't have to have one.

The problem then becomes, the taxi is SO quick and convenient versus the shuttle or bus but is a hassle to bring a car seat. We flew into SNA and ended up bringing our car seat and used a taxi. There were plenty waiting and we were at our hotel 15-20 minutes after getting our luggage. $35 plus tip. I would highly recommend this scenario. I know it's a pain to drag car seats along, but also know that they DO NOT count towards the number of checked pieces of luggage that you're allowed to check on the plane.

Check two booster seats and take a cab way qicker (and cheaper) then the shuttle or bus.

Well, technically, CA law requires kids 6 years AND 60 lbs in seats - BUT the law isn't enforced in taxi's or shuttles. We use taxi taking our now 3 year old all the time and the shuttles a lot as well. While we have her seat (we use it for the plane since she sleeps easier in it) - we've never been asked to install it, even when pulled over once when she was 2. The carseat was clearly sitting in the passenger seat unoccupied.

We prefer the taxi - faster and once you have more than 3, usually cheaper.

SuperShuttle had no offer of a carseat when I used them. I had my own for DS. I can't even fathom having DS in a taxi or shuttle without it.

Though since I grew up on Greyhound buses (dad was a driver), and we take transit around town, buses are a whole different thing, and I have no problem with a bus and of course no carseat (no seatbelts).

But taxi or shuttle, kiddo's in a carseat all the way. Not a huge deal, either. We even did the carseat thing for a 10 minute taxi ride up in Vancouver...just takes a minute of wrangling and you're good to go (assuming the person who will be doing it in the taxi/shuttle is the one who knows how to do it!).

My supershuttle driver from Ontario airport 2 weeks ago seemed very happy that I had a carseat and knew how to install it, though he was also more than happy to take it out for me when DS had fallen asleep just before we got to the hotel, and the belt got stuck in the path while I tried to quickly uninstall it. Nice fellow!

I have a 4-year old and have been traveling with her since she was born. Have taken cabs everywhere from airports to hotels and other places and have never been asked for a car seat.

Ummm....people do know that there is a reason to actually USE the car seat right?????

That it actually is used to PROTECT your child. Just because you are in a cab doesn't mean that you possibly can't get into an accident and have your child go flying through a window. Isn't your child's safety more important than the trouble of bringing a car seat along. It wasn't even a second thought with us. How could it be???? It really blows my mind that people could be so selfish as to put their need to take the easy way over the need of their child's safety.

Just my 2 cents.
