Tax Refunds Jan 28th

We are suppose to be getting ours tomorrow also....direct deposit can't wait to see it in there as like you DISNEY HERE WE COME !

:cool1:

Yep, mine is supposed to come tomorrow as well! I am paying off Disney with it too!:rotfl:    Sooo excited :)

My wife just received her W2 yesterday, so I could only work on them last night.

Unfortunately, we are ever so slightly above the limit for a certain credit, so our refund got dropped to nearly nothing.

Bummer, we were going to use it for vacation. I guess we won't be going on vacation again with the kids since they will be older when we are able to go since we've always gotten $2500-3000 back and now we get just a few $$. Luckily we took our first, and now last vacation last year. At least they got to see Disneyworld while they were still kids.

What exactly is the new tax law?? I apparently haven't been paying any attention at all. I know since I itemize that I can file February 14th.
However, the mortgage interest, who is that effecting?? It says people that filed before Dec 31, 2008 will have to pay back their $7500 credit because they knew it was a loan?? I bought my house 5 years ago, and I didn't get any kind of $7500 deduction. I'm confused:rolleyes1

I live in so calif. I've heard two people say we can file our taxes but it wont be processed until mid Feb. is that true???? i blieve one souce(he filed thru tubo tax but the 2nd source(1st year filling) I wouldnt believe so are they right? Our appt. is Feb 2nd:cool1:

Your State taxes probably wouldn't be processed until then, but Federal will be done right away if you file electronically!

Mortgage interest - bush tax cuts were set to expire dec 31, 2010, but did not- if your mortgage is over $500,000 if tax cuts were not extended you would not have been able to itemize the mortgage interest

$7500 credit refers to the first time homebuyers credit. The first year it was offered in 2008 it was a 15 year no interest loan that has to be paid back $500 each year- you had to buy a home during a specific time period and you could not have owned a home for 3 years. In 2009 credit was raised to $8000 and does not have to be repaid.

I'm so excited I just checked Santa Barbara Bank and Trust or whatever they are now. The have received the money from the IRS and they will deposit it tonight!!!!

I read that those of us who itemize deductions would not be able to file our returns until mid February. If you received your refund, did you itemize deductions?

Yes, I itemized my deductions and am scheduled for the refund to be in my account tomorrow. I have been hearing alot about that, but for everyone that I did taxes for this year are scheduled to get there's back tomorrow as well.

Oh, it looks like the delay is for certain deductions only.
Here are the forms that would cause a delay: I'm getting this from the IRS.

The February delay caused by the AMT patch will affect taxpayers using any of these five forms:

Form 8863, Education Credits.
Form 5695, Residential Energy Credits.
Form 1040A's Schedule 2, Child and Dependent Care Expenses for Form 1040A Filers.
Form 8396, Mortgage Interest Credit.
Form 8859, District of Columbia First-Time Homebuyer Credit.

If it is a simple return then you will get it back now. If you are using the long form and itemizing dont file until end of Feb.
