As I continue to make plans for our trip home to SSR in January, the time is upon me to start giving serious consideration to the various restaurants and character meals and the ways to pay for them. I'm specifically looking at the Character Brekkie Vouchers from on on-line ticket broker available for $22/Adult and $13/child, tax & gratuity included. This leads to a question to those who may have recently eaten at a WDW restaurant -- what was the tax rate applied to the cost of the meal? Is it the standard 6.5% Florida Tax or a different rate? TIA for any and all answers.

The 6.5% tax is the standard in Orange county, not all over Florida, and yes, that's what's applied to the food.

Have you checked the thread in the Budget Board about the vouchers? I notice that you're from Canada, and I've heard that Hotwire doesn't mail to Canada, but maybe someone overthere has figured another way around it?

Thanks for the quick response. Is the gratuity automatically included in the dining bill at WDW? From reading Beaker74's report and noticing recurring prices for Character Brekkies, I'm guessing the final bill does include the gratuity and these $22 certificates are overpriced.

No, the only time the final bill includes the gratuity is if you're dining with a large party, over 8, I believe.

But if you can find some way to order the vouchers through the Connections program, they're only $18.75.
