Got a note from my AAA agent that "Orange County (thought that was in CA, not FL?) adopted a tax increase effective September 1 and that my package has been adjusted to reflect this increase in local tax and other costs." Anyone know what it used to be and what it will be?

Taxes for hotel stays are going up from 11.5% to 12.5%. And yes, Orange County is also in FL.
Cheers!

My booking in November only went up a few dollars... Not sure exactly as to the percentage though...

I just read about this tax increase in the Mousesavers newsletter. We are scheduled to arrive on 9/4, so our package is paid in full at this point. Does that mean we will owe an additional amount when we arrive at the resort. Small change compared to the cost of the package, I suppose, but still nice to be in the know prior to the arrival of a new "bill" so to speak. Anyone else know how this will work? Guess I should just call Disney.

If you have a package booked and its paid in full before the tax increase than no you don't have to pay it.

If its a room only, you would have to pay it.

My package went up by about a dollar or two.

It's only on hotel rooms, and it's only 1%. So if your total hotel room cost is $700, you'll owe an additional $7. I can't imagine it being a dealbreaker for anyone.

Mmm. no, my package was paid in full before September 1, but I still had to pay the increased tax...

I don't think that is the case. The extra tax has to be paid on any room fees after September 1 whether it is paid in full or not (according to the posts I have been reading).

It did not look like it went up all that much, but just wanted to check.

Thanks again!

Orange County is in Florida, California, and New York (where I live!) that I know of. Unfortunately, my Orange County has no Disney parks. :(

I went ahead and called Disney. They confirmed that even though my package is paid in full, the additional tax (1% increase on room) will need to be paid at check in.

Nope, not a deal breaker, but I like to know what I am paying and why.

Of course, since all computers are down, the CM could not tell me what the amount would be.

The CM you spoke with was incorrect. If your PACKAGE was paid in full prior to the implemention of the increase in taxes in Disney's system (basically a week ago) and you are traveling after September 1st, then you will not pay the additional 1% increase. If you have a ROOM ONLY stay that was paid in full then you will pay the 1% increase at check in regardless of when you paid that in full (a difference in how the rates/taxes are calculated on rooms vs. packages.)

So if you paid in full prior to about a week ago on a package you will NOT have to pay the additional 1% increase in the tax unless you make changes to your package.

Per the Terms & Conditions in the Disney Brochure:

"All rates are in US Dollars and are subject to change until package is paid in full. After package is paid in full, rate is subject to change due to imposition of taxes or other charges of governmental authorities."
