Is tax included in the DDE or is that extra along with the gratuity?

Also is the 18% gratuity automatically included on your bill, or do you get to add it in yourself? thanks.

Nothing is included with the DDE card. The DDE card is simply a discount card that gives you 20% off of your food, appetizer, beverage and adult beverages at most Table Service locations.

When using the DDE card...

18% Gratuity will be added to your bill. On a $100 bill you will have $18 added for gratuity. You may leave more if you would like

Tax is charged on the DISCOUNTED amount. If you have a $100 bill, the tax will be figured on the $80 food total.

Also note that DDE has recently changed it's name to Tables in Wonderland.

I will move this over to the main forum, since it's not related to the Disney Dining Plans.

Expanding on what Tricia said:

100.00 - Original Price
-20.00 - Discount
+18.00 - Gratutiy on $100
+5.20 - 6.5% Tax on $80

$103.20 - Total to charge card (or whatever). You can still add an additional tip if you so desire. If you want to reduce the 18% you will have to talk to a manager and explain why you feel the amount is too high based on the quality of the services rendered (and not just because you think it is too high).

hmm, is this card good for ALL the places to eat in Disney or just a chosen few?

I should have added in my original post that it's available for AP holders and Florida residents. It's $60 for AP holders and $85 for Florida Residents.

Oops, I meant to say is tax included with the Disney Dining Plan - also referred to as the DDE right? anyhow, does anyone know? thanks.

Ah! No the DDE is totally different. It's the discount card that we posted about.

The Disney Dining Plan is abbreviated on the message boards as DDP. :goodvibes

(This is part of the reason that Disney changed the name of the Disney Dining Experience to Tables in Wonderland - it's easier to keep straight)

The DDP includes tax at restaurants. You'll just pay for your food with a credit - no charge for tax.

The gratuity is at your discretion on the DDP, so long as you aren't a party of 6 or more.

Once Again, Thank you Tricia. You are most knowledgeable, and I appreciate your concise way of answering questions. ::yes::
