I was reading some old threads, and while I was reading this one - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1231585&page=1&pp=15 I realized that some people can't accept people that express themselves differently.

I can't understand how a thread about gross things people have seen at Disney turned into an attack on how some people dress or if they choose to have tatoos, etc.

What difference does it make?

I believe that everyone has a right to do whatever they want to their body. It's their body, and their decision. Personally, I think tatoos are very unique, and even though I have no tatoos myself, (though I have thought about it, and may get one eventually,) or any piercings, (other then my ears,) I have several friends that do.

I have one friend inparticular that has a tatoo for a late family member. Does that make her trash? Is my friend that got her tounge pierced in high school trash?

It always seems that some people think they are better then others, and think that they have some kind of right to decide whose trash, and who's not. And then saying those people shouldn't be allowed at Disney for having said tatoos.

Why is it that anything "different" is deemed wrong by other people?

I started a thread awhile back about inter-racial relationships. That was because of the same bottom line, people with their views on what's right and what's wrong.

I say, express yourself anyway you want.

even though I believe this might turn into something like the smoking thread did, but I agree with people shouldn't be looked at as a bad person just because they have tatoo's or piercing other places then thier ears.

I myself have 2 tatoo's, a rose on my back right shoulder blade and a butterfly. I also have had my belly button pierced when I turned 18, but had to take it out when I got pregnant with my 1st daughter when I was 22. I pierced my tounge, but I didn't like it so it was only pierced for 1 week. People need to be who they want and what makes them comfortable.

I know, I was thinking as I posted it that if it turns that ugly it'll be locked by that time tomorrow.

By the same reasoning, should a person be allowed to express himself by foul language on a tee shirt? How about not bathing? Just as that individual who you say can express himself or herself with body decorations and piercings, I am entitled to form an opinion on that individual. If people have statements to make with pierced tongues (those are about the most stupid in my opinion) then why can't I express my opinion about them...oh wait, I just did. Never mind.

So far, you all make great points. I would say, I'm,somewhere in the middle. If you need to "express yourself", than go ahead, I have a small tatoo on my ankle. I also have my ears peirced. Alwys wanted to get the naval peirced, but my stomach isn't flat enough, for my taste, and I wear slacks to work for the most part and have a desk job. I thought the would hinder the healing process.

However, I think people go overboard and it looks awful. They scream look at me, look at me! Photo above...case in point.

Anything in edxtreme ecxess can be off-putting.

I don't advocate banning anyone from WDW, except pedophiles.

I never judge people by the way they look or smell or if they smoke or what color they are, that is just how my mom raised me, not to judge people even if they judge me. Im sure I was judged one ir 2 times in my life for having the 2 tatoo's that I do have, but its a rose and a butterfly 2 things that are not disgrading or disrespectful.

my mom would smack my hand like she did when I was 2 if I disrespected anyone :rotfl:

This is from snopes.com
Claim: Disneyland's dress code used to exclude men with long hair from the park.
Status: True.

Origins: Up until the late 1960s, long-haired male visitors to Disneyland were stopped at the park gates by cast members who politely informed the hirsute guests that they did not meet the standards of Disneyland's ("unwritten") dress code and therefore would not be allowed to enter the park.

But the tone of this response suggests that anyone who does judge someone, and I find it difficult to believe that you don't judge people at all whatsoever anytime in any way, is somehow morally inferior.

A lot of people think tattoos and piercings are tacky and I think most people who have tattoos or piercings don't care about what those people think.

It turns my stomach to see those ears pierced with the giant holes, I don't know what they're called, but I had a customer who had them and I could barely look at him, I don't think he was horrible, in fact he was very nice, but that just isn't something I want to see.

I do not like tattoos, especially on women, yet my younger brother has one, my older brother has 6 and my SIL has 3 or 4.
I adore them all(the people not the tattoos ;) ), so while it's something I don't think looks especially nice or good, it never colors my opinion of someone..is that judging or is that just a matter of preference?
I think it's just preference.

How someone dresses or chooses to "decorate" their bodies is trivial in my book. Definetely not worth getting worked up over. I'll worry about myself instead of others.

i've had friends that were tattooed and peirced all over the place, anywhere you could think of........but they were the nicest people you could ever meet! i think the peircings/tattoos just intimidate people more than anything else.

I personally couldn't care less what other people do to their bodies.

I do think that folks who think they are "expressing their individuality" (a common response when asked why they got a tatoo) are only kidding themselves. There's nothing "individual" about doing the same thing that 65 milion other people have done.

My dh (in my pic) has a couple of tats and his tongue is pierced - though he hardly wears the piercing anymore. He only got it because I said he didn't have the cajones too! Anyhow, he's also a firefighter/medic (a really good one at that) and one of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet. Some people can get a little carried away with self-expression, but I wouldn't be too quick to judge a book by it's cover.

I have 3 tattoos - 2 are visible when I am walking around the parks but they are portriats of my cats on my right ankle my other tattoo my first one is on my back and normally can't be seen but its also a cat. I also have earrings in 6 holes in my left ear. I am 33 and so is my DH he has even more tattoos than me and has about 13 earrings in his left ear. He always wears a tshirt and long shorts when we visit the parks. I am sure some people may look at us and think of us as the "trash" the guy on the other post was talking about but you can see from my signature that we have spent our fair share of time at Disney World and at plenty of resorts so we must not be that big of trash. My DH :smokin: but he only smokes in the designated areas (he doesn't want to hear me :furious: at him which I definately would if he wasn't in the right area) I actually enjoy the out of the way smoking sections because I have taken the coolest pictures in the area of the smoking sections and there are things that most people wouldn't even notice.

I have my ears and my navel. In a few weeks I will also have a hoop on the left side of my lip. I have heard so much carp fro friends that it is trashy...I dress conservatively for my age...I work and am educated. I enjoy getting piercings...I think some are cute. Everything in moderation is fine by me. I also plan on getting a tattoo. If these would cause for me to stop being let in places...would I still do it? You bet! Do I know people are going to judge me? You bet! Do I care? Not really...if you can't look past an exterior, then why should I bother? If you decide I am lower class/trashy/not worthy of being talked to due to my choices about my body so be it. I do not hurt anyone, or myself in this process.
