Just curious, do you get to do any reception food tasting at the planning meeting?

You can do a tasting at your planning session. Just be sure to request it. The tasting was our favorite (and in some ways, most worthwhile) part of our planning session.

The tasting was so very, very tasty. Just be sure to ask at what time and where it is. I thought it would just be at the end of my planning session, but no it was an hour after the planning session at the hotel where we are having the reception.

Make sure you don't eat to much before hand because they will bring you plenty of food to taste.

yes you can taste small portions of your reception meal & cake flavors with frosting at your planning session but you do have to request it with your em so they can arrange it with the chef & resort. i cant wait to finalize, see & taste everything at ours.

Does anyone know if you can do a tasting if your reception is at the California Grill? I have noticed alot of difference between there and say Grand Floridian... just wondered about this.

We had our tasting and session at the same time. It was fabulous!!! It was a LONG day, but well worth it.

We had our session, and the cake tasting was at the end of the session. Then we went to the Boardwalk with our EM and had our dinner food tasting. It was great. They had us (4 of us) set up outside and we tasted everything. Loved it!

Just make sure your EM knows you want to do this.

How far in advance can you do all of this?
Our wedding is not official  :confused3
(we have been talking about it and even set a month and year but he still has not poped the question...I am thinking it will be soon he just waiting for that right moment ...I hope- maybe disney lol)
We probably would not have the wedding until late 2007( so I can finish school and we can save money) so I guess I have a while.

Pixie--:) My fdh did not propose until June 29th...we announced our wedding plans to everyone at the end of February...it was kind of funny answering people when they would say: "so when did you get engaged?" :) Have fun with it!!

Thanks codie..that comment gave me a laugh. As soon as he proposes I WILL have fun w/ it lol! :sunny:

pixie08 - you can't book a date for a Disney wedding until you are a year out. Sales Managers will start talking to you about general planning info about 15 months out. The tasting and planning session for a custom couple generally takes place 4-6 months from the wedding date. Have fun waiting for that proposal!

We officially booked our wedding 3/26/04, and we were married on 3/26/05. Our planning session/tasting was in July of 2004. That was the only time I could go down before the wedding, so it was about 8 months before the wedding.
