Just booked this for early November taking my Foodie DD (17) who will love it no matter what! Seeing just a few mixed reviews mostly from just when it opened. Has anyone been recently? What did you think?

Thanks! It seems most of the "professional" reviewers had similar early experiences.
I am curious to see what the current tour is like since it has been several weeks for them to work out the details/quirks.
They just added tour dates into Nov/Dec- so people must be booking it.

I took this tour on April 9 and loved every minute of it. I'd be happy to answer any specific questions you have. I don't want to give too much away, but will warn you, it is a lot of food so make sure you don't have breakfast!!!!

One of the big concerns noted earlier was the lack of headsets- have they changed that aspect?
Have they mixed up the offerings or are the same as when it started?
What was your favorite part?

We did not have headsets but did not feel that they were needed. We had 2 guides, one stayed at the front of the group and one at the back of the group. There was also a "runner" who went ahead to make sure everything was ready at the next stop. On our tour we had a Mickey Cinnamon roll (yum), an egg roll of some sort (it seems like it changes often) and a slushie drink, dole whip, part of a turkey leg, popcorn, grey stuff, mermaid donut and a taste testing (a sample of a new potential dish that you have to give feedback on). I can't say that I had a favourite part, I enjoyed everything about the tour. I felt the group size was good, our guides were amazing and the food was incredible.

Just as an update. I did this tour on Monday (6/03). I thought it was actually a really well done tour. They talked about the sharing of the kitchens, food recycling/waste disposal, and Disney's community outreach. We also got to talk to a couple of the chefs at Skipper's and the Horseshoe. We had 9 people on the tour, and two guides. We had headsets, which I think works out really well. They would switch back and forth speaking. There was a loud tot meltdown outside of Gaston's that would have caused us not to be able to hear the guides without the headsets. We had a cinnamon role at Tony's; a walk through Casey's kitchen; through the Skipper's kitchen with a sampling of their food and drink; into Tortuga Tavern for some turkey leg; a stop for a Dole Whip sample; over to the Diamond Horseshoe for a salad with chicken; backstage behind BOG and a sample of the grey stuff; through part of Cosmic Ray's kitchen and a plant based sloppy joe; and into Tomorrowland Terrace for the new potential dish (a really tasty spring roll with some noodles). Other than the turkey leg, I thought all the food was really good. We had one person in a wheelchair. The only place the wheelchair wouldn't fit was when we went through the kitchen at Cosmic Ray's. I would highly recommend this tour.

We are thinking of doing this but my DH has a dairy/gluten allergy. He says he still wants to do it b/c he thinks it will be interesting. What do you think??? My 2 teenage sons will be coming also. Is it enough to satisfy them??? TIA I just took a leap and made ressies for July. fingers crossed!!!!

When you check in they ask if there are any allergies in your party. I know there was someone with a nut/seafood allergy in our group, and a couple of times they had different foods for them. When we were trying the plant based sloppy joe they talked about the new Vegan/Vegetarian/Gluten Free menu that they now have at each park, so my guess is they could accommodate a gluten allergy for most of the food choices. You're eating something about every 20 minutes and start off with that giant mickey shaped cinnamon role, so I would guess the food would be enough to satisfy anyone for that 9am - noon period of time. The backstage piece where you walk around the backside of BOG restaurant I would guess would be interesting to the boys. "A friend of Cinderella" was getting dropped off at the Cast Member entrance when we were back there. She was in full hair and makeup, but in street clothes. Not something you see every day at Disney.

Thanks for posting a more recent review (we are going in July). Glad they added the headsets. DD13 is excited to see the kitchens & talk to the chefs!
