I have read the rave reviews on this board about the cheese soup at LeCellier. I would like to try it but I was wondering how much it tastes like beer. I really don't like the taste of beer. Is the beer taste strong?

I don't like beer either. DD17 and I hated the cheese soup because the beer flavor was overpowering to us. Just my opinion!

I don't like! flame suit on :cool2: I think it is to salty. I didn't taste beerfor all the salt :rotfl2:

I thought it was actually very mild, and I certainly didn't taste any beer. :confused3 I love it! :thumbsup2

I didnt taste any beer either but it is a unique flavor to it. Could be the smoked bacon ....

We had this yesterday for lunch. :cool2:

It's made with Moosehead beer and black diamond cheese. IMO, it's very creamy and does not taste like beer. Yes, it is on the salty side more than anything else, yes, from the bacon (and the cheese too).

I always have the cheese soup when I'm at LeCellier. Never thought it tasted like beer.

I always have the cheese soup too, its to die for!!!!!! I hate beer, uggghh I didn't taste anything that tasted like beer to me!

We had some as carry-out. We don't drink, so don't know if it tasted like beer, but it tasted "sour" to us. After all of the rave reviews on the boards, I was very disappointed.

I think you can taste a hint of the beer flavor, but I don't find it terribly strong. I should probably add that I love Moosehead beer, though. In any case, I agree with some of the other posters - the strongest flavor is the salt. That said, I think it's delicious. =)

Let me say that I hate beer and didn't think I'd like the soup at all. Well - my DD 6 chose it for her app and loved it so much she didn't want to let me try it. After I convinced her :thumbsup2 I changed my mind. It was very good and didn't taste like alcohol at all. And this is from someone who can't eat any dessert that has rum in it and doesn't drink at all (I know my DH rhinks I'm crazy too, he doesn't understand that I just don't like the taste :confused3 )

Enjoy

The recipe for it was just in a recent issue of one of the Disney magazines that comes out.

I may try to make it..hope it tastes ok :crazy2:

I didn't notice the beer flavor too much but (putting on my flame suit) didn't see what all the hype about the soup was/is :confused3 The soup was good but nothing great.

I'm the same way, a teetotaler. But I loooove the cheese soup and didn't think it tasted like beer. Maybe it depends on who makes the soup? :confused3

I love the cheese soup at first i was worried it might be too over whelming cheese wise or beer wise...But i found it to be very mild and just delicious ...And i didnt find any of the ingredients in it to be overwhelming at all :thumbsup2

I'm not a lover of beer and I did not find the taste overpowering.

We loved the soup & it didnt taste like beer at all. The pretzel breadsticks complimented it very well. Cant wait to eat it again on next disney vacation.

I've made it at home from the disney recipe. it tasted the exact same. I can't taste the beer, but it is a bit salty for my taste. you can adjust for this when you make it at home.

The Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup recipe is in the cook book "Cooking with Mickey and Disney Chefs". I made it a few months ago, tasted all right. Yes, definetly can taste the beer. I've not been to Le Cellier, so don't know if it turned out just like the restaurant's. Have to go to LC on our next trip.
Does anyone want the recipe? Can I post the recipe here? I'm new to the board, and not sure about all the rules yet. :confused3
