I have read that people buy Disney gift cards at Target at a discount. I have seen 10 or 20% off. Meaning getting $50 cards for 40 or 45. How does this work? Tips? I live an hour from the nearest Target but would be willing to make the trip if I was going to save that much.

Not sure where u have seen 20% savings. Target has a "Red Card" ( either linked to your debit card, or an actual credit card) that gives you 5% off purchases, including "entertainment cards" which is how the Disney cards are classified. Some people also get prescriptions there and occasionally get 5% cards off a single purchase. You can use both, but its not exactly 10%... its 5% and then another 5% off of the remaining balance.

Target employees get a discount (I think 10%) that they can stack with the Redcard 5% discount, but that's the best deal I've ever seen.

The pharmacy coupon/Redcard combo is the best non-employees can hope for, I think.

During the past two holiday seasons Target has had a coupon for $10 off of a $50 purchase and 'gift cards' were excluded but not 'entertainment cards' so it worked on Disney gift cards. We collected quite a few that way so did get 20% off of them and then an additional 5% off of that with our redcard.

Best I have heard.

The best deal I have ever got at Target was around Christmas for the past 2 years they have had a Target Friends and Family coupon for $10 Target GiftCard with a $50 purchase my husbands employee discount (10%) and our Target Red Card Visa Credit Card (5%) made it an AWESOME deal because I turned around and used the $10 Gift cards to purchase another Disney Gift Card. My tips are that if you get a Target Debit Card be aware that there is usually a spending limit based on how much you spend at Target ( or something like that...it gets confusing because corporate wont explain how this limit is calculated), I also recommend start buying well in advance...my target is very VERY slow at restocking the gift cards and so it took forever for me to buy all the ones I needed.
