I bought DD a swim vest / jacket at Target. She has worn it twice and both times she got terrible red marks / rashes under her arms and between her legs / thighs where the strap is. It is one of those speedo ones that zip up and you have the strap clip through your legs.

It must rub against her skin.

Needless to say, she is not happy and is practically crying b/c it hurts.

I do not have the tags or anything, but could probably find my receipt.

Will they take this back or am I stuck with it?

TIA!

I bet they'll take it if you have the receipt. If no receipt, you can plead your case and see if there's been a possible recall on the item.

Thanks! I wasn't sure if they would take it back b/c it is used and the tags are no longer on it. I'll find my receipt. Thanks!

I don't think they would take it back if it was used, maybe call Speedo and ask them about it.

Target is absolutely TERRIBLE about accepting returns! I seriously doubt that they will take it back but you could check just to see. I had purchased an item with a gift card and decided to return it. Well, I didn't expect cash back but they refused to return the money to me on a gift card. I had to buy one item that cost as much if not more than the item I originally purchased from the same department! How crazy is that! I couldn't even buy several items that added up to the amount!

I had my receipt too!!!

If it has been used and the tags are missing, I would be surprised if they will take it back. If you have the receipt, they might exchange it for another in case there is a problem with the specific one you bought, but I can't imaging they'll do a full return.

DD5 has a Speedo swim vest and gets the same marks on her arms (she doesn't use the kind with a strap between her legs anymore). She wears a rash guard shirt over her suit and under the swim vest - it has stopped the chafing. Not sure what to suggest about the marks on her legs, unless you cut the strap off.

Really? I've never had a problem returning anything yet. Everything has been new with the tags though. Even without a receipt, they were able to look it up on my credit card. Maybe it depends on your target??? I'll give this swim vest thing a try and let you guys know...........

Yes, DD stopped using the strap between her legs. She had the rash guard shirt on (so she says) and still got the red marks under her arms. Now, I was not with her as she went with the sitter so I can't say for sure she had the shirt on so it didn't rub, but I don't want the thing anymore so I don't have to take the chance of it rubbing again and hear her crying about it!!!!!

I think we'll stick with the water wings.

Target has changed their return policy in the last few months and are now HORRIBLE!! If the item you purchased is over either $20 or $25 - cant remember which - they will not return it if you do not have a receipt. They will not even give you store credit. I had this problem when returning baby shower gifts. BUT if you know that you purchased it on a credit or debit card - give them that card and they can look it up. If not, you are stuck with it. They will not budge on this. I have tried.

Target has been bad on returns for a while. I had a big go round with a manager a couple of years ago after I returned a pair of Lizzie McGuire tennis shoes my dd wore once. They literally fell apart after she had worn them outside for about 30 minutes. I returned them two days after I bought them, with the box and receipt and they gave me the worst time. They didn't want to return them because they had been worn. Finally they offered me another pair, which I refused. Why would I want a pair of the same shoes that just fell apart? Anyway, after about a 30 minute "discussion" with the manager they refunded my money.

So, you can certainly try, but I wouldn't expect much. Hopefully you have a more understanding manager that I did! Good luck!

My friend's husband is a Target manager, so I called him. He said he won't even let his wife return an item without a receipt. He didn't know of any recalls on that type of swimwear, but he said it would worth investigating on the internet or at Target itself. If you have your receipt, he didn't think that Target would have a problem with your returning the item because of the problems your daughter was having. Hope this helps.
