Target Return Policy

I don't do returns very often but need to take a few things back to Target. The items still have the tags but my DH can't find the receipts. Will they credit back the credit card he used or will they give me store credit? I'm fine with either but just want to know what to expect.

I feel bad returning things that my DH gave me since he really tried hard! I told him I wanted flannel pjs and Christmas socks since many of mine were getting worn out. They pjs he picked out were really cute but they didn't fit right. I don't like the way they're cut so I don't think a different size would be any better. And the socks he got were knee socks which I don't like to wear. He really tried! But he said he's fine with me taking them back. He'd rather I get things that I will actually wear.

As long as you have the credit card he paid with - they will scan the card and then scan the item and as long as there is a match -it will go right back on his card - you can ask for a store credit if you would prefer to go buy something else.

Target will credit it back to your credit card. They can search for the purchase with the credit card that it was purchased on and credit it.

If he paid with a credit card (within the past 90 days) they will be able to look it up. They swipe the CC and then scan the merchandise. If the merchandise is found on the CC they can issue a gift card or put it back on your CC

Without a reciept, or any way to look it up (CC, debit, checks, even gift cards can work for receipt lookup, cash cannot) or if it has been beyond 90 days, you can attempt a return off your drivers' license. Unlike a reciept lookup, they can only give back the lowest price it has sold for. Maybe he bought it regular price, but if it has been on sale, you only get credit for the sale price.

And unfortunatly, if it is something that was sold at target in the past (like last year) and not in the "system" any more it has 0.00 value.
