I went shopping at Target today. I was looking at the advertised gift-card-with-purchase on wiper blades, but when I asked the checker to scan them to make sure the size I had would work, it turned out the deal was only good for a size that didn't work for me so I didn't get them. I just bought 2 boxes of pumpkin spice waffles for a total of $3.80. I was on my online bank account just now and noticed that Target has a hold on my account for $98.79. Why would this be? Do they normally hold that much on a transaction or is it because they did a price scan to see if the wiper blades qualified for the gift card?

Possibly the cashier rang the wipers then voided the wipers from the transaction. It would've had to be after you swiped your card though. Were the wipers and waffles rung together? Or did the cashier do a separate "price check" on the wipers?

It was a separate price check and I hadn't swiped my card yet. It doesn't show on my bank account a purchase price of $3.80, but it does say the $98.79 is pending.

Ok, I feel dumb now! I called and they told me that even though my bank lists today as the transaction date, that was actually a purchase I made last week. It just takes some time for it to show up on the bank site. :rolleyes1

Oh yeah, that's also possible. Fri Sat and Sun transactions don't usually process until Monday night and clear on Tuesday morning. Forgot about that! :goodvibes
