Target Pharmacy

OP, sorry you had issues with Target. My family just switched to Target from CVS and so far, we love the change. First, I never drop off my scripts...I always wait and can honestly say they've never taken more than 15-20 minutes to fill my scripts. The pharmacists at my Target are all so friendly and I love the "personal" interaction. This is something that was seriously lacking at CVS and the wait time there was incredible! Different strokes for different folks...bottom-line, if your not satisfied with your Target pharmacy, switch back to your previous provider!

I personally love my Target pharmacy. Usually, my doctor's office sends the script electronically and it is ready by the time I get to Target. The pharmacists are very friendly and have always taken time to go over any questions I have, no matter how busy they are. That said, I realize all stores can be different, so if you have had a better experience at Walmart, then by all means, go back there next time. I won't use our Walmart anymore for Rx stuff, even though they are way closer to us, due to excessive wait times, rude employees, and several insurance mix-ups, so I can see where you are coming from (from the opposite perspective!), not to mention that Target Rx now gives me that nice 5% off coupon for every 5 Rx filled even though I don't have a red card - gotta love that! I guess what I am saying is, if you have found a pharmacy you like, then stick with it!

My Target pharmacy has been amazing since I started using it... Their rewards program has gotten me a lot of %-off coupons, and the pharmacist at my store is super helpful. And I regularly get scripts filled in 15 minutes or less.

They do close for lunch in mid-afternoon if there's only one pharmacist (which there usually is) but I can get over that. Everyone's gotta eat!

I normally do not have an issue with Target. But one day my daughter (who works at the Target I use) check on my prescription and was told it was ready. So, I stop on my way to an appointment to pick it up. They told me it was not ready and it would be 30 minutes. So, I left since I had another appointment. :confused3

I tried to use our Target pharmacy once and it was such a horrific experience I've never braved trying it again.

But I do think it is difficult to judge how busy a pharmacist is by the number of people at the counter since such a large number of prescriptions now come through electronically.

Now why I won't use Walgreens anymore.

I get an email saying

"It's time to renew your prescriptions."

I go online and click refill prescriptions and order them

I get an email saying "Your prescriptions are ready, come pick them up!"

I go to Walgreens and not only are my prescriptions not ready, I get a lecture from the tech for attempting to re-order too soon and I should have plenty of pills left.

I say, but your automated system suggested I refill in order to give you plenty of time to refill. I then show her my email on my iPhone saying my prescription is READY and she sniffs and tells me that means nothing. :confused3

She says "Well your insurance isn't going to pay until the day before your last 90 days supply is scheduled to run out. I can't put this through right now because they will deny it."

I call my Insurance. They tell me that isn't true. They will refill when my prior refill is 75% used and the Walgreens system is designed to trigger on that exact date which is why I got the first email from them.

Call the pharmacy again....

Repeat every month for about 3 months and then just finally switch to the Aetna mail in program which works like a charm.

I love our Target pharmacy. If I want to wait for a prescription, it doesn't take any longer than 15 minutes. If I refill a prescription after hours and the message says it won't be ready until after noon, they will fill it for me if I come in earlier and want to wait. The pharmacy is always well-staffed with knowledgeable pharmacists.

CVS and Walmart are the worst. CVS only checks its messages from doctors about once an hour (or at least it used to here), so driving to CVS after a doctor's appointment to pick up an antibiotic usually means that they haven't even pulled the prescription off the machine, so please allow three more hours. I have stopped having prescriptions called into CVS even though it is much closer than Target. CVS also won't tell you if the medicine is not in stock, so you come back three hours later only to find out they don't have it and they didn't bother to call and let you know.

Walmart is just a nightmare all the way around. Understaffed, and even if you stay and wait, plan on at least 45 minutes to an hour. Target will fill a prescription in under 15 minutes if you are waiting.

The only thing I don't like about Target pharmacy is that they don't open until 9. If I want to get sudafed or a prescription after dropping the kids off at school, I have to kill time at Target for a while (which is not necessarily a bad thing).

OP, if you wanted the prescription at 2:50, why didn't you say 2:00 when they offered that as a time? Problem solved. I can't imagine being irritated that it wasn't ready precisely at 3:00. If you said 3 and came back at 4 and it wasn't ready, I can see being irritated.
