Target/Disney Gift card issue

It's not Disney issue as they were sold 3rd party. You got hit by a postal employee and they onto do anything. Dispute through your credit card. Gift cards are considered cash and treated as such. Best bet is to buy E-cards or in person.

This is Target's problem. They sold them and you did not receive them. If they won't replace the items, then you file a dispute with your credit card company.

Don't be so quick to assume theft. Postal people don't know what's in an envelope. It's far more likely it got torn open in a sorting machine and the cards fell out, possibly at several different locations.

I'd assume theft too. It sounds like it was the only thing in the envelope, which would have made it really easy for someone handling the envelope to feel the card inside and decide to steal it.

This.

Also because any time I've gotten something damaged in delivery (such as an envelope ripped open by a machine), it's come in a plastic bag with essentially an "Oops! Our bad! So sorry!" message on it.

Did you try asking target to cancel those and reissue new ones? Just this past week I had a problem where I ordered an American Girl gift card (but luckily only $20) it was shipped fed ex to usps. The shipment showed arriving at fed ex then nothing for over a week. I called AG and they cancelled the first order amd card and reissued me a new one which arrived in 2 days

I would pay the credit card bill, except for the amount that the gift cards cost you. I guess the moral of this story is: it is not safe to send any gift cards through the mail, especially without insurance. Gift cards are generally not refundable if they are lost, stolen, etc. Whoever stole them from your envelope may be trying to sell them on some gift card sales site, unless they are a Disney shopper. It is so unfortunate that you can't seem to trust anyone anymore. You can't even have packages delivered to your front door without "porch pirates" stealing them, all the while you are at work to pay for these same items.

This seems pretty crazy that neither Target or the Post Office won't do anything. I mean, if I ordered a $500 computer and an empty box showed up, I for sure wouldn't pay for it and take the hit. Target is responsible for insuring the value and the transporter is responsible for packages that don't arrive in the condition expected.

Has anyone ever had their gift cards stolen before they even made it to your house when ordering off target website?
I had 5 $100 gift cards taken before they even made it to my house. USPS delivered a torn/opened envelope with the cards taken out. Target says its a Disney issue because its their card and Disney says they are sold by Target so its Target's issue. I filed a complaint with the postal inspector general who is investigating on their end. But in the mean time Target is telling me my loss and I'm just out $500. Any guidance from someone who has experience with this would be great.
Has there been any update?

I would also tell Target that they can cancel my Red Card and that I will be shopping elsewhere in the future.

This thread is a real eye opener for me. Not too sure how many gift cards I will buy through the mail from now on. I imagine during the holiday season, this type of theft creeps up a great deal.

It depends on the seller, too. I had a good experience with bjs when they were temporarily missing.

This does nothing to help with this current situation l, but for future ones, buy just one physical card and get all the others as e-delivery. You get the same red card discount with much less risk at stake with all that monetary value being in one single envelope.

Better yet, get one physical card at the store and plug it into disneygiftcard.com and then when you get the egift cards, just transfer the balance over. If you know you're going to go over $1000 on a card, get a second in person at the store, etc. You can store up to 5 cards on disneygiftcard.com, so just leave one slot open for the transfers - transfer, then delete the $0 balance number.

You still get the discount on a physical card in store.

Yeah that's what I do. I was just too lazy to to type it all out at the time, so thanks for filling it in. Its actually easier that way because you just copy and paste numbers instead of having to scratch off the little silver slip and then correctly read and type each number in.

Yep! You just have to delete the spaces between the sets of numbers in the card number. I about freaked out that my egift cards had been messed up, but then decided to delete the spaces. :D

Do you need even one physical gift card? Can you just combine egift cards?

You could just combine scars but I always prefer to keep a physical one, just in case there's a refund issued. I write was the card was used for and put it in my safe until the money has been fully spent. (Such as prepaying for a dining plan)
