Target Christmas lights recalled

I just wanted to let everyone know that in my email of recalls there were some Christmas lights sold by Target that were recalled for safety reasons. Thought this was worth mentioning here since, like myself, I know alot of you went to Target's after Christmas clearance for Christmas items. That is where I ended up with some of these lights.

They are listed as 50ct multi mini light set, 100ct blue mini light set and 140ct chasing light set. You can visit cpsc.gov website for more details (didn't see it on Target site yet), just check by company and bring up Target recalls.

I have 2 boxes of the multi color lights, so guess I'm headed back to turn those in for store credit.

THANKS for the heads-up! I purchased some of the chasing lights after Xmas. Looks like I'm headed to the store this week. Because the lights were on clearance, I didn't think I needed the receipt and pitched it...I wonder how Target will handle my credit...

If you paid with a credit card or debit card they should be able to look it up on their computer. Otherwise they should have some kind of plan in place when it comes to gov't recalls!

It looks like they will give store credit for list price according to info I read. Since these were recalled some people may have had them for a while and used them at Christmas. I don't imagine you would need a receipt, esp if you have the box. I will be going on Wed, so will find out then.

I purchased two sets of the chaser lights on clearance after Christmas. After reading the first couple of posts about this recall I dug the light sets out of the storage bin and returned them this morning.

My local Target had not heard about the recall so there was no plan in place, but fortunately I had the foresight to go to the CPSC website before I left home, and printed out the recall notice. I was concerned that since Target did not have a notice about this yet on their website I might have difficulty making this return. When I set the two boxes of lights up on the counter and mentioned the recall the clerk was doubtful about the return at all since they had not heard about this and I didn't have a receipt. I repeated that this was a recall situation and showed her the printout. Since I had purchased the lights on my card she was able to look up the purchase and I got credit back on my card for what I had paid. I would have been VERY surprised to get more back than the clearance price I had paid, even under a recall. The clerk asked if she could keep the printout and I told her she could because there would probably be other people coming in wanting to return these light sets, and until Target gets the recall posted on their website the CPSC notice is all the information they have about it.

I think Target would have taken the lights back once the clerk found I had purchased them using my card, even if the lights had not been recalled, but I wanted to make certain.

So, if you go today or any time before Target gets this recall posted on their website it might not be a bad idea to take along a printout of the CPSC recall notice. I don't know how they'll handle it if you didn't purchase the lights on a card. I'm sure someone in that situation will post and let us all know.

just posting so I will get a reminder to check out which lights I bought. I know I bought the mini lights, but I thought there were 100 lights/ strand - were those recalled, too? Let us know when it gets on the website - thanks!

Went to return these yesterday (I had gotten 2 boxes of 50 multi). The store had just gotten a message about these lights, so someone went to print it. Apparently my lights were not recalled, as the product number did not match the recalled numbers. I was quite surprised since they were the 50 mini lights multi color. The only thing I can figure is in the photo they have a white string/cord, and mine are green.
