I was in EPCOT July 2001, and saw either Tapestry of Nations or Tapestry of Dreams. I had always assumed it was Tapestry of Nations, but the CM at WL just told me that all of 2001 was already TOD. I just bought the CD and listened, and the whole intro to TOD doesn't sound familiar (we watched this parade 2x in one day, dd8 LOVED it...plus we videotaped parts of it.) It was, of course, 4 yrs ago, but wouldn't I remember that dreamy intro? HOW can I tell which parade I saw? Anyone know for sure when it switched, or what the differences were? I guess I thought it was TON because it seemed so clearly to have a message of international unity. But the CD description lists that as one of the intended messages of TOD also. Arrggh!

p.s. I traded a CM at WL for a pin of the TOD/TON puppets. DD was soooooo excited to see it when I got home!

I think the only difference between the parades was pretty much the name. Maybe someone else knows for sure but I think after the mill. celebration was over they just made a name switch to TOD.

I LOVED ToN and I am so sad that it is gone. We bought the mill. celebration CD that has Illuminations and ToN music and it is so wonderful to listen to. I can almost transport myself to Epcot just by listening.

The CD was likely the first version's track and was (slightly) changed after the end of the "Millennium Celebration".

Other than the Voice-Over intro and closing being re-written for use after the "Millennium Celebration" version had ended...

The "music track" base was virtually the same, but they changed the vocal sections a bit (added more children's voices in certain sections).

The drummers and parade puppets did virtually the same "choreography" but when there were "pauses" in the progression (at certain sections of the audio track) the lighting effects and certain other small details were altered.

I preferred the first "Millennium Celebration" version, as I liked the very dramatic "slow-motion simulation" that the drummers/paraders adopted during sections (largely instrumental music) when tiny mirror-ball lighting on the drum-floats was used.

But I'd just love to see EITHER version brought back. It was a joyous thing to experience!

I wish they would bring TON parade back again also. I was so in hoping they would bring some parade back at Epcot during the new celebration event. :wizard:

I am afraid I can't tell you when the switch was made, but there was a change to the intro between the two versions and there are actually different versions of the CD. We saw both versions many times (My DS first saw it when he was 6 months (right after it first started) and watched the whole thing with his eyes nearly popping out and his mouth hanging open - We saw it every 6 months until it was discontinued and his reaction stayed pretty much the same! He STILL misses it and asks if they will ever bring it back.)

We purchased the CD right away while it was still TON. Unfortunately, the CD got cracked a couple years ago (a few months after the TOD ended). A friend was able to find the CD at Epcot and send it to us. It is DEFINITELY a different CD. It is better than not having it at all, but I really wish we still had the original!

I just bought the CD at Epcot this weekend, and it has Tapestry of Dreams + Tapestry of Nations. Its the Illuminations CD, so it has that, of course, too!

(I was the OP, btw). I listened to the TON part of the CD today too, but wasn't sure it sounded exactly like what I saw, either. I was pretty fixated on the rotating drums, with the drummers never missing a beat. And was so touched when, at the end, the different types of puppets were dancing with each other. Guess my memory has left out some finer details that would make these 2 more distinguishable from each other. Doesn't matter -- LOVED it, miss it, and the music is soooooo addicting!

THanks for everyone's help! Hopefully, someone with dates will see this soon! :teeth:
