We are going to the world this summer with my brother and sil who are first timer. My brother use to wear tank top during the summer. I know that he shaves, but I was wondering if this is permitted in the TS for Lunch and dinner ? (not signature restaurant) :confused3

I assume that it should be ok at CS, right ?

Here some restaurant we will visit this summer for dinner :

Park : Sci-Fi; LTT; Coral Reef; Tutto Italia; Le Cellier; 7 dragons; Tepan Edo; Mama Melrose F!; Rainforest Café AK; Akershus

Hotel : Ohanna, Grand Floridian café, Wispering canyon; Boma

As my DH never wear it, I was just wondering ...

Seriously although you can get by with it I personally prefer to wear and recommend a shirt with a collar. Either an oxford sport shirt or a polo shirt looks SO MUCH better than bear arms, hairy or not. That is of course just my opinion.

Plenty of men do it, but I am totally grossed out by men in tank tops. Bad enough in the parks, worse while I'm eating.

He will be allowed into the places you have identified, especially CS.
But like others, I don't like the look when I am eating at a nice sit down TS restaurant.

Boy oh boy, do I ever agree with you, So much nicer!

:)

Some restaurants do have dress code/guidelines. I don't think the ones you mentioned do necessarily, but really...if you can get him to throw on a t-shirt most other diners would be appreciative.

In all honesty no one would really be looking unless he's particularly noticeable in said tank top for some reason.

my thanks for all your replies.

honestly, I was guessing that wearing a tank top would be unconvenient, but now I am sure.

Now the more difficult part : having a discussion with my brother... he is the kind of man who do not understant why he should do something he does't want to during the vacation...:headache:

Good luck to you...that's a tough one!

A little white lie never hurt anyone...Tell him there's a dress code for TS restaurants, then act baffled that none of the other diners are following the code. :lmao: Seriously, though. He would never know the difference and it would save a lot of awkwardness/hurt feelings.

just tell him tank tops are not allowed. i'm sure he won't see anyone else wearing one. if he does, maybe they can hang out together.

I didn't know men still wore them. Anyhow, Le Cellier is one restaurant on your list that is a "signature" and he will not be allowed to wear one there.

I'm with everyone else here.
man + tank top (or muscle shirt) = :scared:

Last August I was in MK when a man wearing a tank/muscle shirt brushed up against me. He was completely sweaty and I was left with a film of sweat on my arm. I freaked out and felt dirty the rest of the day. I still shudder at the thought. It was beyond gross!

OP, good luck trying to convince your brother not to wear them. That's one conversation I wouldn't want to have to initiate. :goodvibes

I was eating in a restaurant one time (not at WDW) and out of the corner of my eye I saw this middle aged couple. The woman's back was to me but the man was facing me. He had a very hairy chest and was wearing a tank top that was too large for him. How do I know it was too large? HIS NIPPLES WERE SHOWING!! HIS LARGE HAIRY NIPPLES!! I lost my appetite right then & there.

Before this dinner show, my DH had been known to wear tank tops during the summer. The ONLY time he wears them now is at the gym, not even to the beach.

MEN - there is a reason your momma made you put on a shirt before you went to the dinner table!! A tank top is just an undershirt that some parts of society has labeled acceptable!

These are my sentiments exactly.

Tell him to bring a button up short sleeved shirt that he can put on in the restaurants because they turn the air conditioning WAY UP and it would be too cold for him just in a tank top. ;) He could still wear the tank top in the parks.

If nothing else perhaps a fair compromise would be just to put a logo'd Tee shirt in a tote bag and put it on before entering a restaurant. I have to agree with the others about tank tops.

Thanks, and now I have just lost my appetite eating while I was reading this post. I guess I lost it at the large hairy nipples. I didn't even have to see it and lost my appetite. . :rotfl2:
