Tangled Play and Greet

some advice for the CM who work the S&G
Please DO NOT tell kids to color something for thier parents or repunzel...

#1 DD Takes FOREVER to finish..
#2 When the cm tells her to give the drawing to her parents.. My DD gave her a nasty look... ( as to tell her i'm not done yet)
The Photopass guy there got the shot too.. I'll post it when my cd gets here..

..

So true!!!! On our day, they only got to color for a couple of minutes before Rapunzel and Flynn came out, nowhere near time enough to finish the picture for my DD (4). After the dance with Rapunzel and Flynn, when they told her to come back to us she kept saying "But I'm not done with my picture" and I had to go get her. She was all worried about giving Rapunzel and Flynn a picture that was not finished. She also did not understand why Rapunzel and Flynn weren't taking the pictures as the kids were told they were coloring for them. I also wasn't thrilled with the fact that now I had this piece of paper to carry around the rest of the day that DD did not want wadded, creased, or bent.

We were there the first week in December (just a few days after the movie came out). We hit an earlier meet and greet after the cut off, and I asked the CM what time to come back to get in line for a later one, and we were told to come back at least 45 minutes before the meet and greet time. We got there an hour in advance to be safe, and it was a good thing because at 45 minutes, we would not have gotten into the coloring/dance area. The line cut off completely for the meet and greet right around that time too. 45 minutes would have been cutting it close. I felt so sorry for the little ones that had the rope pulled in front of them and were told they could not go color or dance with Rapunzel and Flynn with the rest of the kids after waiting for that long. There were some sad faces. At least they got to do the meet and greet though.

All in all, the set up of the meet and greet is not great. By the time DD had met the characters and we were walking out of the area, it had been a hour and a half since we had gotten in line. The characters are adorable though, especially Flynn. It was completely worth it to my DD, to wait that long to see them.

I would definitely shoot for the first one of the morning, as there have been reports on here that the lines for the later ones have been cutting off an hour and a half and even two hours before the meet and greet. If you don't make the early one, I would ask for the CM's opinion on when you need to be in line to make a later one. The CM probably will have a pretty good idea of how the lines are running that week. Whatever the CM says, I would probably get there 10 minutes before that. Don't wait until the last meet and greet of the day, because that one is the worst. Everyone who has been cut off earlier is trying to get in on that one last chance.

No much of a "show" at all. There is a big table. The kids gather around and color (really......... I wonder which imagineer came up with that!) until the characters come out. Then the dance around the table with the kids then go up on stage for photos.

Seriously, bring back Belle's storytime. It was WAY more interactive and entertaining. But if you want photos with the characters, it's the only way to do it. It skews WAY too young for my 10 year old daughter, who still loves to meet the characters, but is way past coloring.

Totally agree with all of this. We went in Oct. before the movie was out and it was the longest wait of our trip, longer than any ride and longer than M&G wait for the faires. My kids went off and rode Buzz while I waited.

Also agree with the lack luster imagination on the set up. While the set is very nice there really is nothing interactive or show like at all. The characters were very nice and did spend quite a bit of time with us but just like PP my kids still like to meet characters but way past coloring.

DH went this morning with two of my DD's. The first set is at 9:15. So they were there right at rope drop and went to stand in line. They were the 3rd family in line. While DD's were coloring, my parents went to stand in line for the autograph. Rapunzel came out and they danced and then had the meet and greet. DH called me at 9:30 and they were finished and off to the next thing. For my girls it was the highlight of their day! DD was lucky enough to be standing next to Rapunzel and hold her hand during the dance, so it was very worth it!

Thanks princessmorgan! This looks like the way for us to go. We skipped Rapunzel earlier this month because I had read about all the impossibly long waits. But we'll be back in a couple weeks and have enough MK mornings scheduled that we could try the 9:15am set. (We have a pre-schooler and two pre-teens, so we also need at least one day per trip when Space/Buzz is first, and a day when Dumbo/Pan are first!)

Does anyone know what the line is like for the 9:15am set when MK has EMH beginning at 8am?

I'm so glad there's a 9:15 set now! Thanks Princessmorgan! When we were there in December the earliest time was 10 am. Now we can hit RD and head directly there and if we're really really lucky be able to see the fairies at their RD directly afterwards. Whew! Heading down in 10 days and can't wait!!

We went again on Friday to the Tangled Meet and Greet and they are doing it differently. They are letting 70 people in all at once (including adults and children) and all the kids get to crowd around the table and color and then do the meet and greet. I'm not sure if that's the way they'll do it from now on. But they have to count and recount the line, because a lot of people leave after waiting for a bit....or an hour.

princessmorgan - was the first set still at 9:15?
I'm just wondering if we are back at the Fanastyland rope (have BBB at 8, so we'll be back there), will we be able to do Dumbo then rush over to Tangled and be included in that first set? I just hate the thought of Dumbo anytime greater than 5 min after rope drop!

We were in MK yesterday (Jan 29). Saw rope drop and walked (slowly) up Main Street taking in the sights. I walked over to the Tangled meet & greet and we were about the 10th family in line. The CM keeps track of the total number of people and mentally tracks the cut-off point.

After about a 15 minute wait, we were ushered into the reserved area. Parents lined up along the outside and children were placed around the table. But here's the interesting thing - no colouring! A funny CM came out and politely asked us not to climb on the wall, then almost immediately Rapunzel & Flynn came out, bowed to the audience, danced with each other for a minute, and then they came right to the table and danced a little circle around the table with all the girls (I didn't see any boys) holding hands in a big ring.

Then they went up to the stage and the children went back to their parents and it became a standard meet & greet with pictures.

My daughter was very happy to meet Rapunzel. But no colouring (perhaps because we were the very first group?).

We walked by the Tangled spot a few times that day and every single time, the lineup stretched pretty much to the wishing well.

Hope this helps.

awesome- that does help!
Do you happen to remember what time you were done and out of there? Thanks for the info!

This is really helpful. I'm so nervous about this one. My DDs (especially my 6 year old) want to meet Rapunzel. They LOVE her.

My DD was absolutely STARSTRUCK. That couple is SOOO beautiful. This is where beauty queens must all go when they retire their sashes. And DD happened to be in the spot right beside Rapunzel and (gasp) HELD HER HAND as they were all dancing around the table! I could tell she was *thrilled* because her face froze up and she couldn't even smile. :cutie:

We were there for the first 9:15 showing (it started a wee bit late I think?). We were done and out shortly before 10:00 am - at 9:48 if you really want to know the precise time (I'm like that). There were 2 families after me that had to finish their pictures, so I would imagine it would go almost up to 10:00 am for the first set. Does that sound about right?

Now it wasn't my first choice for the first thing to do, but it was important to DD, so it was easy to persuade her to do it first. It was well worth while for the experience. BUT, if you are really picky about your pictures, watch out. On a sunny day, the trees overhanging that area make for a VERY strong "dappled" effect over the entire photo shoot area so you will need to adjust your cameras accordingly......

Awesome info, thank you!! We have an 8:15 ADR at Crystal Palace at our first MK morning and we're hoping to head to Rapunzel after that. I agree, I'd rather do some other things first, but I know how much DD wants to see Rapunzel, and I'd rather have less of a line if we can. :)

We just saw the movie tonight and I already have plans to go meet them when we go in April (I'm 17 and my mom's even excited to see them). We're planning on going there to be in the first group, we have an 8:20 Crystal Palace ADR and plan to head there right after. If we love them we might try to go a second time on another MK day (we have 2 MK rope drops planned)

They'll still be around the first week of April, right? I'm planning to make a special Tangled shirt for when we go. :)

We were also there yesterday (the 29th), and got in line at 9:10. We missed the cut-off for the first show, which was running late. We were the first family for the second show. The kids did color at that one, though. Rapunzel and Flynn played follow the leader with my girls, which made their day. If it's a must see for your kids, get there early.

Woah, so you got there only 10 minutes after the park opened and they were already running late? How long was the wait for the second show?

thanks for all the info! So I'm going straight to Tangled after BBB, do not pass Go, do not collect $200, do not become the worst mother in Disney World. Instead of Dumbo-or-die, it's now Tangled-or-die haha

The park opened at 9:00. We were in line at 9:10 trying for the 9:15 show. The 9:15 show was running late, so it didn't start until 9:30. We ended up being first in line for the 10:15 show (they usually run every hour, but I believe there's a break between 2:00 and 3:00). Since we were first in line for Rapunzel, we were out of there by 10:30.

casselsshopper - since you were first in line to meet Rap., hopefully you can shed some light on this....When they let the parents in, where is the best place to head towards so you can get to her & Flynn during the meet and greet part faster? Or, do they lead all the parents into the area in order? From what I'm seeing in pics, looks like you need to go to the right side and onto ramp area, but I just want to be sure.

Based on the two meet and greets that I watched, here's how it works:

The kids come in and gather around the table (the first group of the day didn't color, but the second one did) while the parents line up along the ramp. This is not a free-for-all. The parents line up in the same order they were outside the theatre.

Right before Rapunzel and Flynn come out, the kids are instructed to give their coloring sheets and crayons to their parents.

Flynn brings Rapunzel out. They go to the table, walk around it and greet the kids. The table is an oval shape. Rapunzel takes her place at the end of the table closest to the entrance of the theatre. Flynn takes his place at the end of the table closest to the ramp.

The kids, Rapunzel, and Flynn all take hands and dance around the table.

After the dancing, the kids are instructed to join their parents for the meet and greet.

Looks like we may be skipping this unless we can get there right away. but my dd knows we will not get to do everything. esp with 3 brothers not interested at all in these things!

We had the same experience as Casselsshopper. However when they were cutting it off before, DH went in with the girls and they closed the rope again after they let the kids in to color. The sign said the Meet and Greet started at 9:30, so a lot of people didn't know about it until Rapunzel and Flynn came out to dance. Then they started letting more people in to do just the meet and greet. DH was out by 9:30.

DH also went on a non-busy day to MK, so the first meet and greet wasn't too crowded. The second day we went was a Friday and it was a lot more crowded!
