We have a trip coming up in August and being on the DDP, and we have our table service restaurants set and ADRs booked. I've been working on some ideas for counter server restaurants and wanted to find something in the World Showcase in Epcot that me, my DH and my DD(4) would all enjoy.

DH said for him, that would be Tangierine Cafe or Yakitori House. I wasn't terribly impressed the last time we went to Yakitori House (it was good, just not great) so I thought I'd see what they had at Tangierine Cafe. We've eaten at Restaurant Marakesh twice, and love the food there. My DD loves their cousocus kid's meal.

So I was looking at the menu on allearsnet.com, when to my utter surprise, the kid's meal is a hamburger, pizza or chicken fingers with fries!! There's no Moroccan food on the kid's menu at all! Is this really the case? While I'm sure my DH and I could get two meals and split it (and then some) between the three of us, it just blows my mind that they don't have something a little less "standard American kids fare" for kids.

Mur!

Just an FYI -
The hamburger really is just that. They don't have cheese to make it a cheeseburger - it is just a plain hamburger. Blech!

DH LOVES Tangierine Cafe but I think I am going to insist that we try something else next time. We were there in January of '05 and I thought it was fine, but in October I didn't think it was that great. Time to try something new!

Just FYI -- you can absolutely get 2 lunch plates and split them with a child. We did this and actually had food left over! The portions there are that large!

If she's a fan of the couscous, I'm sure you can sub the fries that come with all kids meals for that---they are all priced the same as sides. Avoid the Pizza!

I agree with mmmears-you could order two Shawarma Platters and it would most likely be more than enough for the three of you. (Last year, my DS8 was able to order his own "adult" platter on the dining plan at Tangierine Cafe yet that may not be true this year.)However, I completely understand your surprise at the kids menus-we were shocked to find that there is NO pizza on the kid's menu at PIZZAFARI in AK! :sad2:

I guess they figure if the child is interested in the ethnic cuisine, they've got the regular menu items available to be ordered.
