Tampa to Ottawa ?

DS is flying from Tampa to Ottawa with a plane change at Pearson. Does he have to collect his luggage and go through Canadian customs in Toronto, or does the luggage get checked through to Ottawa? Thanks for your help. We usually fly out of Buffalo so have no experience with this.

Haven't done this in a while, but as I recall, he will have to pick up his checked luggage, go through Customs in TO, then put luggage on conveyer belt for connecting flight to Ottawa. I believe they will tag the luggage for Ottawa in Tampa...

After your son lands in Toronto he will first need to clear Canadian Customs and after that he will pick up his checked bags from the Tampa flight with everyone else who was on it. Once that is done he will check-in for his flight to Ottawa.
