Im in Brandon which is south of Tampa! ( by like 3 miles) and inland a little too I can help if thats the direction you choose!

as far as in Tampa no stay out a little you will be happier unless you are from a big city now!

St. Petes is typical beach town!! you will pay more for housing and have to deal with tourists all the time!!!! PM ME for more exact questions etc!

Make sure you come down and spend a good deal of time in the area. I relocated for work and it is my least favorite of all the places I have lived. Everyone likes different things but just get a good idea of the area and then make your decision.

I agree with the pp. I grew up in south FLA so it is no problem for me but I have heard alot of people don't like it. The winter they love... but come summer and 90 degree heat with 80% humidity they HATE!

I am a little north of Brandon. The area is pretty big so you def need to narrow it down before asking about schools. One difference here is that the entire COUNTY is one school district. So you have Pinellas county schools and Hillsborough county schools. I suggest looking at the websites to get an idea of what you are looking at.

Ok, why is it your least favorite? I see you are in Michigan, or from Michigan? We may be in a position to relocate to this area from MI as well. So I'm curious to watch this thread to see the responses. And to know why you don't like it....

What is it tht you don't like? have visited many times and think st pete downtown and much of tampa is GREAT.

in st pete, can anyone recommend schools , public and parochial? pm me if you prefer. thanks

This is a timely thread for us, so am looking forward to hearing your responses. My dad lives in Brandon and he likes it. My husband wants to relocate. We are thinking around the Lakeland, Brandon area as well or possibly as far south as Sarasota. Would love to hear suggestions on the communities with the best school districts.
