Can anyone give me recommendations and opinions of hotels near Busch Gardens in Tampa?
Thanks!

You'll get the best answers on the Orlando Area Hotels board.. and I've movd this over there.

Thanks,

Knox

I haven't stayed in of the hotels close to Busch Gardens. My ds, who lives in Tampa, told me they can be pretty rundown. I did stay at the Doubletree on N.Rocky Point, close to the airport. It's about 20 mins from BG...a really nice hotel. That's where I routinely stay when visiting ds, even though he is 10 mins away from the hotel.

I wouldn't recommend anything on Busch Blvd. It's not a good area. There is an Embassy Suites and a LaQuinta on Fowler Ave. across from USF (Univ. of S. FL) that look good. Its only a few minutes away from BG, and I would stay there. HTH. The previous poster was right, and many hotels at Rocky point are good. It's a fun area.

There's another thread just like this that I posted on. I can't get the link to work so the short answer is be careful of the Busch Gardens area. It's very seedy!

I recommend Embassy Suites near USF on Fowler Ave. or Holiday Inn Express off of Bruce B. Downs in the "new Tampa" area.

They are only about a 5 to 10 minute car ride but it's a straight and easy shot and the areas are better than near Busch Gardens.

You can read trip reports on both of these hotels on tripadvisor.com.

I lived in Tampa for 11 years and visit frequently so I know what I'm talking about. : )

HTH!

Go to busch Gardens and stay at Embassy suites/USF-Busch Gardens. you won't be disappointed. I have another thread on here somewhere on this hotel. A few yrs ago we had a horrific hotel experience in Tampa. The hotel we booked(major chain) had been sold and we were unaware. It was filthy. Fast forward to now. In March 2008 we stayed at the Embassy and LOVED everything about it-free cook to order breakfast, comp. happy hr and a CLEAN and roomy hotel suite. You will not be disappointed here.

We just went in January and stayed in Clearwater Beach. It is a little further to drive but the kids loved being right on the gulf. It took us about 45 minutes to get to Busch Gardens but it was more of a two for one vacation. We stayed at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort. It was wonderful. Will stay there again- and go to Busch Gardens.

I have stayed at the Laquinta on Fowler and it is very nice if you have a car (taxi service sucked) and there is a hotel next door (Westgate Inn....I think) that offered free transportation to the park and also looked nice. I definitley wouldn't stay anywhere om the street Busch is located on.

Like others have said, anything on Busch Blvd is scary looking and if you read reviews on Trip Advisor or other sites you'll see why.

I like to stay at the Comfort Inn on Bearss Ave. It's close to a Sonic's and a 5 minute drive to Busch Gardens.
