We are in Orlando in a family holiday in July 09 and would like to take in a game. I have a number of questions that I'm sure you can answer.

1. How long does the journey from I-Drive take? Is the stadium easy to get to?

2. Are tickets easy to obtain? If not please advise on best approach on getting them incl when they will be on sale.

3. We need 2 adult & 2 kids tickets, what are the price ranges we can expect to pay?

Any other advice will be gratefully received.

Thanks

1. We went to see the Rays play the Boston Red Sox in August 2007 while we were in Orlando. The trip from Lake Buena Vista to Tropicana Stadium is about 94 miles (151 km) and takes about 1 hour 40 minutes. The stadium is near the highway and there is free parking at the stadium (if you have 4 or more people in your car).

2. In 2007 it was extremely easy to get tickets (even when they played the Red Sox, which draws large crowds to their away games). You could easily buy decent tickets even on the day of the game. They RARELY sellout, except for the last few games that they played this season. This year was still fairly easy to get tickets even though the Rays and the Red Sox were in a race for first place in their division. And because of the Rays success this season, I would imagine that their ticket prices would go up in 2009 and maybe they might get larger crowds at their games.
In 2007, I bought my tickets online in mid-February 2007, the day that they went on-sale. You can go to their website to buy tickets: http://tampabay.rays.mlb.com/index.jsp?c_id=tb

3. In 2007, ticket prices ranged from $8.00 (upper deck) to $85.00 (field box). Ticket prices usually go up every year. 2009 prices would be slightly higher. Also, there is a surcharge ($5 - $30) for "premium" games between the Boston Red Sox, N.Y. Yankees and the L.A. Dodgers. These teams draw larger crowds. I had tickets near the Red Sox dugout which cost me $40 ea. plus tax and handling charges. In the U.S., their tickets are sold through Ticketmaster.com. I don't know how you would purchase them from the U.K. In February 2009, the schedule will be posted on the Rays website and you can just click on the game you want to see and it will send you to ticketmaster. Give it a try.
