I just recently moved to Tampa and need to start looking for my gown. My wedding is August 2008. So I should start but I have been dreading it. Can anyone suggest a good bridal shop?? Does anyone know anything about Jon's Bridal on East Busch Blvd near busch gardens..

Thanks

I just moved to Tampa a few weeks ago! I'm not getting married so I can't really help with recomendations but I wanted to say hello. Do you have family here? I don't know anyone except the people I work with, and it is hard not knowing anyone except my cat! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and good luck dress shopping

thats too funny. i'm from Morris county, nj and i do have some family here. my aunt and uncle and cousins. If it wasnt for having them and my cousins being around my age we wouldnt have anyone to go out with.

I got my gown at David's Bridal in Clearwater @ Clearwater Mall. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO Athena's Bridal on Drew St. in Clearwater, it is the worst place ever. I bought my first dress @ Athena's Bridal, I should have read all of the reviews......did I make the biggest mistake ever. I'm stuck with a dress that I can not wear, Athena's Bridal suggests the size but you are the responsible party if it comes in wrong. The make No Exchanges, No Refunds, etc. and they are No help at help........very, very rude people but the owner is the worst. So, please........please.........stay far, far away!!

I'm from Texas but I have no family here in the Tampa Bay area either. I think we should start our own discussion group.........he, he
Please let me know if you need any help.........I've been in the Tampa Bay area for about 6 years. I live in Clearwater, work in St. Pete and have been married for 3 weeks.

I'm in Orlando but CC's in Tampa is great...they are very nice and have a good selection in a wide price range....also twice a year they have a wonderful clearance sale

i live just north of Tampa and got my BM dresses at Jon's bridal. It looks like a sketchy place from the outside, but let me tell you they have some beeeeautiful dresses inside! When i first went there i had already purchased my dress from David's in Tampa, but as soon as i walked in i wish we had gone dress shopping there. You should definitely look there!!! They have a separate shop for BM dresses upstairs, so that's where we spent most of our time, but from the wedding dresses i saw on display, they have a lot of selection. Happy shopping!!

Yeah! I'm from the Tampa area too! New port richey actually, just North of Tampa. I can't help on the dress thing I went home to NY to get mine, the fun part is going to be getting it back down here! :rotfl: Good luck shopping though!

Congrats on your wedding! It's so nice to know that there are other people who live in Tampa and have no family here. How long have you been here? We should have a discussion group!

Bouncy-and luck on the dress yet?

Small world! I live in the Tampa area too and I used to live in Morris County, NJ!

My friend got married this summer and found her dress at Demetrios, near the International Plaza. They have so many dresses to choose from and a wonderful selection of BM dresses too. Their on-site alterations were great and not too expensive. I've also heard good things about CC's Bridal. I got my dress in Gainesville, where my parents lived at the time, but found my shoes at David's Bridal in Clearwater Mall. I didn't see any dresses there that I liked but they do have a large selection.

Good Luck!!

Where is morris county did you live? i lived in mine hill (my parents are still there) right off of rt. 46 near dover, wharton and randolph

Well since me and my cousin's girlfriend were bored and were off of work; we needed something to do so we decided to go dress shop. I really thought the process was going to be hard especially since my mom is in NJ.

We went to Jon's bridal right before they closed and the sales woman asked what i was looking for. My little problem is i'm 5'2 and my hips and behind are kinda huge. (I"m starting my diet this week). The first dress i tried was IT.

Perfect and hardly no alterations. Now it was time to convince my mom who is paying for the dress to pay for a dress she hasnt seen. They will not let you take pictures.

We are going back today as soon as they open to put the deposit down. I'm bringing my aunt and my cousins along to give me 3 more opinions.

I'm so excited i really didnt think it would be that easy.:yay:

I lived in Morristown when I was a kid and I went to CCM in Randolph for my first year of college before transferring to Denver. I used to kill a lot of time at Rockaway Mall!

Congratulations on finding your wedding gown!! Post pictures when you can!

It is a small world (after all) :goodvibes

I'm going to take DH up there one of these years and show him where I used to live. All he's ever seen of NJ is Newark Airport and he thinks, like a lot of people, that it's all chemical plants and concrete. I try to tell him it's called The Garden State for a reason. Where I lived (Morristown as a kid and Long Valley in high school and when I went to CCM) was beautiful! It would have to be a Spring or early Fall trip though, I can't handle those NJ winters anymore and the Summer is just too hot (this from a Florida girl - LOL!).

I got married 7 years ago and bought my dress at CC's. :thumbsup2
