Tampa Airport

I found better airfare flying into Tampa instead of Orlando for our February trip.

Now I need to book a rental car. Can anyone tell me what companies are inside the airport terminal. I want to avoid having to take a shuttle. TIA

From a Tampa Int'l airport website, the rental cars located at the airport are:
Avis
Budget
Dollar
Hertz
Enterprise
Thrifty

I've rented from both Dollar & Budget there with no problems. This airport is quite a bit smaller than MCO so it's easy to get around. Be sure to check rentalcodes.com for any discount codes you might be able to apply.

I'd google search "Tampa airport" It's been a year or so since I've been there.

We always fly into Tampa, and we almost always rent from Dollar. They are at the airport, and we usually have the car within 5-10 minutes.

To get to the car rental counters, you will need to go out the doors at the baggage claim, across the passenger pickup lanes (watch out for cars!) and into another building (it's a total of about 25 yards from the baggage claim). The cars are right behind the car rental counters.

FYI, I don't know if you're interested in a minivan, but I'm getting a minivan for a week from Dollar in late Jan.- early Feb. for $199 ($243 with taxes). We got it from their website under 'Specials'.

It figures, I booked a car with National and that is not one that's in the airport.

ksc37, thanks for the tip about Dollar. We are a family of five so a minivan is best for us. I'm off to check rates now...

Just be aware that there is a lot of construction on I-4. They are also ready to start another construction project at I-4 and 192 at the start of the year. Just allow extra time. They work around the clock.
