We'll be flying into Tampa and landing at 7;30pm. Instead of trying to find our way to a hotel in Orlando in the dark, am wondering if there is a good hotel in the Tampa airport area that we can stay at for the evening and then head into Orlando in morning. Ideally the hotel will have a pool for the kids. Any suggestions? Thanks,

I've never stayed at a TPA hotel but you could try Googleing Tampa International Airport. Most airport's official websites have a list of onsite hotels and car rental companies.
Also Expedia is a great way to search too and get reviews from other travelers. I like to check Tripadvisor.com to get reviews too.
hth.

I understand your wanting to just stay the night, but I would recommend just going ahead and making the drive over to Orlando. From TIA to the Disney area should take you no longer than an hour that time of night, and then you could just get it (the drive) out of the way and wake up in Orlando. Just a suggestion.

If not, what kind of price are you looking for in the hotel. There are quite a few around TIA.

we were just talking about going direct to Orlando instead of overnight in Tampa - my only concern was if we arrived late and trying to find our way around in the dark! I'm thinking we'll head up to Orlando since we're more familiar with the Disney area and could probably find our way ok and like you say, when we wake up, we'd be closer to our final destination of Orange Lake.

You could always print out directions on Mapquest before you leave if you don't have a GPS.

Make the trip ever so often from TPA to home. Usually get into the airport about midnight from out West. It is an "easy" drive up I-4 at night. The rental car company will give you directions out of the airport. There is some road construction going on around the airport. If it's a weekday, the downside of waiting until the morning is you will hit the ugly traffic into downtown Tampa and on I-4 headed towards Orlando. If you do need a hotel, have stayed at the DoubleTree TPA. Nice comfortable beds for your family to get some shuteye. Enjoy your stay.pirate:

It has been a few years since I've been at the Tampa airport, but there used to be a hotel attached to the airpot. I would check that out if I were you.
