Talking Mickey: will he say a personal message for the camera?

I want to film talking Mickey saying a personalized message for my nieces. Just a quick "Hi Alice and Lucy, can't wait for your visit" Is that possible?

He does not even have the ability do that.

It's all pre-recorded stuff. Like a Mickey sound board so to speak, but his mouth moves with the words. A very big hit with kids and definitely worth doing once, but the degree to which he can have a "conversation" is very limited.

He can't say names, but we did get him to do a sort of generic- "Hi I wish you were here with me and my friends, hope to see you soon," kind of message for my nephew, (whose parents refuse to take their kids to wdw, he LOVES Mickey) It was awesome.

Like the others have said, it's pre-recorded so you can't have any specific names, but you could prompt him to say something fairly specific if you try. The way it was explained to me is thta "Mickey" doesn't actually choose what to say, it's controlled by someone offsite and the character is told what is about to be said so they can react accordingly. I've heard the same phrase repeated for several people but then I've heard lines pluralized when there are multiple people interacting and small changes to address something like a birthday or anniversary button, so if you prompt for something specific you might get what sounds like a customized response.

In addition to Richard's advice, explain your request to the Attendant. The offsite CM is picking up visual cues as well as specifically worded directives from the Attendant. The Attendant will know exactly how to prompt Mickey to produce the phrases you'll need for your video.

We happened upon a trial of talking Mickey almost 2 yrs ago. My daughter still talks about it and looks for him at each visit since but to no avail. Our interaction was very conversational though. He asked her if she had been swimming. Her favorite part was he sneezed when she touched his nose. If Mickey can't say your message for you, he did sign a postcard for us that we mailed from main street. Very cute for the kids.

You can always find Talking Mickey in the Town Square Theater - he's been there a couple years now. There's a FP for him too. We love him! He sang happy birthday to my daughter a couple weeks ago. Such a cool experience. We got a kick out of it.

We have been back to town square theater 8 times since our first encounter, and we have only seen regular Mickey. So I would say it's not a guarantee talking Mickey will be there. It is a wonderful experience though. I'm glad to hear he is around sometimes.

you must have enormously bad luck because talking mickey is regularly scheduled there and has been for a couple of years, he only doesn't talk when he has technical issues.
