First and foremost, they sent me the application so I figured it was time for me to renew......

Be careful here, my Disney Dining Experience Card runs in April of this year...if I were to renew when they sent me the application, which I thought I was suppose to do, I would lose 3 months on my present card... I hope I am explaining this right. My new card would run from today and I would lose the months of February, March and April.

They are going to shred my application and my check, I hope they do what they said they would do and send me a new application for me to hold until March, then I am to renew..

Confusing, isn't it.. and it will be one card in my name.....no $25 for hubby's card

What's the turnaround time on the application processing?

Ours expires at the end of March, and we haven't been sent our renewal application yet.

TIA......

I have been trying to call for over a week to get the card because we are leaving one month from tomorrow. I am calling around 3-4:30 central time zone and always get the recording explaining the card and then the hours of business and then it says goodbye. I am so frustrated! Can anyone help?

Jen

Don't forget their hours are Eastern time. You are calling between 4:00 and 5:30, and I think they close at 4:30.

Also, when you get the system, press "2".

I sent the check in January 11th and they called me this week saying that they needed to talk to me.. so processing time was about 10 days or so... now... when they send it out, etc, that is another thing. I think, first time around, it was like 2 to 3 weeks..

Also, if you read above, they told me to call the first week in March to renew..

I have to say there is something wrong with the renewing of this card, must be a simpler way..

See, I did just the opposite. Mine doesn't expire until 2/28, but I called in December before the price increase since I knew we were going in April and October. So, my new card is still good through January 07 and I paid the $50 instead of $60.

Anyway, you're right. You don't even have to renew it until you are ready to go on your trip. Think about it...it's still $60 whether you renew or let it expire and order it again right before your next trip, as long as you still have an AP.

So, if your card expires in April and you aren't going until July, don't renew it. Let it expire and then get it again in June. Same price, 3 more months.

Then how come I let mine lapse because I didn't get the renewal notice and they wouldn't give me the renewal price? I've been a member for a long time as I'm a Florida resident and have renewed every year. My card expired on 10/31/05 and I called on 1/17/06 to renew and explained the situation. The girl I spoke with told me that I couldn't renew as too much time had passed and it had to be a whole new account. I didn't like her answer and hung up, waited awhile and called back. Got a different person and they told me exactly the same thing. They were very nice about it but the computer wouldn't allow her to do it as a renewal as too much time had passed.

I have to say it makes sense as just like renewing the AP's, the renewal date is the date the card expires, not months from then. Disney will give you a 30 day grace period on the AP's and I was told this is the case on the DDE cards but the renewal date will still go back to the date the card expired. I just renewed my daugther's florida resident pass which expired 1/2/06 on 1/23/06. I was able to get the renewal price but it will still expire on 1/2/07.

Florida resident renewal price and AP discount price are different. If you renew as a FL resident you do get a discount, but there can't have been a lapse. If you are ordering with the AP discount the renewal price is the same as a new discounted membership--making it a better choice not to renew, but to repurchase just before your next vacation so that the membership does not expire too soon on you.

I emailed Rosa when I received my renewal, she told me to wait till after Feb 7 (mine expires 3/31, next trip is 4/3) to avoid a 1/31/07 expiry. She said their turn around time is better this year too.

I have a question regarding the DDE card. I'm going to WDW in March (7th-13th) which is the same time frame I go every year. I want to purchase this card, but I don't want it to expire until the end of March 2007. When should I order it? TIA

Maux, you have a problem there. The DDE card is good for just 1 year. If your card starts on 3/1 it will expire on 2/28 and you won't have it for your next trip. If your card starts on 4/1 it will expire on 3/31 but you won't have it for this year. The DDE card does not work like the AP which will start on the first day of activation. The DDE card will always start on the first of a month and end on the last day of the month in one year.

This is what I'm going to do. My card expires at the end of May, but I'm not going to WDW until August this year. I'm just going to let my card expire and get a new one before my trip. I will most likely be going in June of 2007, so both trips will be covered.

I was a bit surprised that there is no renewal discount like the APs. Plus, no free spouse card and a $10 increase. I'm really not complaining though -- it was well worth the money on our last trip! We had a group of 7 and sometimes 9 for dinners. It adds up! :goodvibes
