Talk to me about March (vs. February?)

Do you stay in the suite style rooms? One for you guys, baby in the living room? We stayed at the best western park place for the Avengers marathon weekend for under $100 a night, but in a regular room... Kids stayed in AZ There is a new Homewood Suites next to the Toy Story lot. But... I doubt it's under $105 and then you'd have to take the shuttle from toy story... Not a great option!

I would suggest you call the hotel and ask them about the different rates between early Feb and March because - explain your situation and the decision you are trying to make and I'd not be surprised if they work some magic for you. Today it seems so many of us, including myself, like to sort stuff out online - but I admit that often times it's when I pick up the phone and talk to another human being that things have a way of getting resolved.

Have fun planning.

We did the parlor suite at the Desert Inn last time and it worked really well so we definitely want something like that again. I remember looking at BWPPI last time and it being more expensive. Plus it wasn't a separate room.

I've stayed at a Homewood Suites (in MN) before and LOVED it. But yeah...definitely more expensive and farther away. They had a good breakfast though.

Your first paragraph....are you talking 2016 or 2017?

If we decide to go March on 2017, we'd probably leave here on February 28th. It's a Tuesday. Then our park days would be Wednesday 1st, Thursday 2nd, Friday 3rd. Saturday 4th would be a break day. Then Sunday 5th, Monday 6th. Head home on the 7th.

Of course....it's so far away and really too early to truly plan. But I enjoy dreaming anyway. :) I will probably be able to book the hotel in a few months though.

And yeah...February this year felt more crowded than we expected. This may be our last Winter trip to Disneyland. Not sure we'll want to pull our son out of school when he's older. So future trips would likely be June. You'll have to let me know how it goes.

I went Feb 29-March 4 this year. Crowds were great. No big issues at all. I thought Friday would be crazy because of spring break starting the next week, but Mon Feb 29 was busier to us than Fri, Mar 4. Tues, Wed were heaven and Thur was good! Most things were going off refurb I guess for Spring Break and that's why we didn't go beginning of Feb when more was on refurb. I would go the first week in March like you have planned.

It is funny that you thought crowds were heaven - this is our third trip to DLR at this same time of year and it was very busy compared to the previous years - not crazy busy but it really used to be an 'off season' - it's not anymore!!

I guess it's all perspective!!

We have been in September and then we went in February 2015. it was definitely more crowded in February probably due to the closures we are planning our next trip and going in September again. Hopefully with the start of Halloween time there will be less closures and I'm hoping the crowd levels will be lighter like that our first trip. The crowds are projected to be around the same as what we saw in February but with less closures hopefully the people will be spread out more

What year did you go in September?

Was it early/mid/late September?

We haven't been in September in a while. Last time we went is was way too hot for us.

We went around 9/23/2013 and are going 9/25 this year. I'm from Phoenix though so even the high temps of Anaheim are a break from our 100+temps!

Nice. We haven't been in September since 2010. They had record high temps around 110 or so. It wasn't the worst thing ever since there isn't tons of humidity but it's not my favorite. (Still better than 85 degrees in the midwest though! Humidity sucks.)

So I booked the hotel for the first week of February. I figure I can always cancel later if I need to anyway. Feels crazy to have something booked this early!

It makes the wait for your vacation seem that much longer to have it booked so far in advance! What hotel did you go with?

Anaheim Desert Inn. Parlor suite. It's where we stayed in 2015. The beds were kind of uncomfortable. But worth it for the price/location/room size. :)

We are trying the Best Western Parks Plus Inn, it's a suite but all in one room so we'll see how it pans out!

We considered there for our last trip. But in the end though the separate rooms would be best. Now, I think I'm too spoiled to be in 1 room. Haha!

I'll have to check out the Desert Inn for our next trip cause two rooms would be nice!

They have a few different types of rooms. We like the parlor suite. One room has two beds, t.v., fridge/microwave, and the bathroom. Then the front room has a small couch that pulls out into a bed, a coffee table, and a t.v.

The hotel is a bit older so that's why it's cheaper. The bed wasn't very comfortable but we just deal will it.

We stayed at DLH our last two trips and those beds were not overly comfortable and it's quite a bit more expensive!!! Their rooms come with two beds and a pullout couch, a fridge, and one sitting chair. The suite you are describing sounds like it would work better for my family! How far from the parks is it?

Here is their website - http://www.anaheimdesertinn.com/

You can look at their different room floor plans there. And tripadvisor should show you some accurate photos of the rooms. (I do see a recent one over there about bed bugs which creeps me out. Unfortunately, I doubt there are any local hotels that have NEVER had bed bugs. We always do a very thorough check of the room before even bringing our bags in at ANY hotel we stay at.)

Keep in mind, it is an older hotel so it's nothing like any of the on-site places, by any means. If we had the money, we'd definitely be staying onsite. But it's just not in our budget. There aren't many hotels near the park with suites so that's why we chose the Desert Inn.

It's right near the crosswalk on Harbor. Here's the address if you want to look on Google maps. 1600 S. Harbor Blvd.Anaheim ,California 92802 We thought the walk was really short. Realistically, it's probably a shorter walk than coming from the Disneyland Hotel.

I think I may change my reservation!! The suite is cheaper than the one we already booked at Best Western!

Just don't be mad at me if you hate it. :)

It seems like people here either love it or hate it. It gets very mixed reviews, I think.
